General Discussion / Re: General Comings and Goings
« on: October 28, 2016, 04:48:58 PM »
Little update out of the hospital: The operation went well and I am currently recovering.
I can also feel that liquids are getting waaay better down now! Hope that will be true for regular food as well!

Also scribbled a blueprint of a new level down on a college block I brought with me ;)

When everything goes well over the weekend I could be home again on Monday evening (german timezone)!

Sadly that means I will miss Arty's stream on saturday :(     But I hope I will be there for the next one!

I will be away for at least a week due to a hospital stay in hamburg, that hopefully fixes my eating problems!

I try to get wifi access there though for university stuff I need to settle and maybe give a little update to this here as well, but I cannot promise that! ;P

Very good!

Then it is a very useful feature!

I added this feature for the next version. If you don't like this queuing of skills or the way it's implemented, please tell me.

A few more details in addition to the ones described in the first post:
- Queuing doesn't get replayed, only the final skill assignment (if it happens) is recorded and will be replayed.

I have a question here:

Does it mean when I queue a builder to a builder lem for example and I save the replay afterwards only 1 builder of the 2 will be remembered?
If that's the case then this feature will be useless for me as I always want to save solving replays of the levels I played and if queueing a skill means that a skill won't be remembered in it it's a to avoid feature for me.
Even if it only isn't remembered in the action replay it woud make it also completly useless for me as my progress would not be saved correctly and causes errors in my excecution + I have to remember where I used queueing.

Sry if when I did not understand the inner workings correctly here, if I'm wrong.

NeoLemmix Styles / Re: Kiwi Knight Tileset
« on: October 21, 2016, 03:29:06 PM »
Looked through the tiles and the only thing that came to my mind is that the 2 no-effect objects don't look 100% like objects.

They could be mistaken for terrain if not used together with the spinning trap, but there are quite a few of these type of objects in a variety of different tilesets which have the same problem. So not big deal for me. ;)

Otherwise everything looks ecellent to me!

With these excellent tilesets comming out from you, I have to rethink the graphic set distribution for Reunion 2!  I really want to include some levels using this and Glacier now ;)

But I will wait a little bit until I start to seriously creating levels with these to avoid the possible critical updates at immidiate release.

Will test this over the days a bit maybe I can see another thing which could need some finetuning ;)     Maybe wait until the next patch to avoid double reporting things wafflem already pointed out.

Thanks namida!

Suggestions of Lemmings similar/clones games for current PC systems? I'm lacking screenshots here at the forums.

Well the main custom Lemmings engines here are NeoLemmix and Lix.

Both support handy things like backwards/forward framestepping for extra precision, replays and directional select.

To give you some gameplay videos:

NeoLemmix:
With commentary and live-playing:

Some replay videos (made with a slightly older version which has not the recently added features like skill blueprints):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02FuzjU3_ng&list=PLKR1N9oJTTlKL_gpsNgZfNTRvt_28AVqf&index=1

Lix:
With commentary and live-playing (again :P):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KlJISHuAF8&index=12&list=PLKR1N9oJTTlKa23xOtzcGO4-6cPUwhhia
And one playthrough video from Flopsy who started playing the Lix community pack:

The playlist has some more lix videos as well.

I am more from the NeoLemmix side here. Some links I can recommend to get started 8-):
Topic for newest versions of the player (opens NeoLemmix level packs and levels), the Editor, the Flexi Toolkit (used to make own level packs) and the Graphic Set Tool (used to make custom tilesets): http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2979.0
The original games as NeoLemmix packs: http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2479.0
My own level pack (shameless advertising!): http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2175.0
The Neolemmix manual (could be slightly outdated): http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2414.0

And here the Lix link to get started ;):
New D-version, but without the multiplayer (coming soon) and the Old C++ version with multiplayer:
http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2815.0

If you want a list of all current Lemming packs: http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=1822.0

Now you have Lemming/Lix stuff for ages! ;)   Have fun! :)

I don't like "spawn interval", this again just further makes the UI feel more like it's trying to explain all the intricate game mechanics, sort of like what the 'pure game physics mode' does. I don't want all this explained during the game, the more of this occurs, the less it feels like a game. Many players don't want a lesson in game physics or coding when playing. The game should feel like it's got it's own unique rules in it's own unique world.

I am with that.

Personally I am fine with 1.) or 2.) of Nepsters proposals.

Maybe a bit more of leaning to 2.) with Simons addition and we could keep the "RR 99 it" tradition. I do like even numbers a bit more ;)

Update 1.9 is out! :)

This is another non-critical update which fixes the outdoor-water animation (again). This was still not really fluent, but adding a few pixels and culling an entire out of place frame seems to resultin an big improvement.

Closed / [Suggestion][Player] Implementing mousewheel zoom
« on: October 14, 2016, 01:46:29 PM »
I don't know if this is possible to implement or already on the "to-do-list", but especially in larger levels it would help to be able to zoom in/out. The mousewheel would be the obvious "hotkey" for this.

Maybe sth like x0.5/x1(default)/x2 zoom factor would be good steps. :)

x2 is helpful in precise assignments where you need to see every little pixel.

x0.5 is nice to have to get an overview over large especially vertical levels.

Version 1.8 is out!

Again as in Reunion this is mainly to get rid of the Steelareas in favor of autosteel.

Needed to reupload a quick hotfix as 5 29's music was incorrect as well. Fixed it now. If you updated before this post make sure to update again.

2879
While replacing every level of Reunion today some things came to my mind which would make such tasks a lot easier:

- The Flexi toolkit window should be able to be dragged larger, so you can see all levels in a rank at once. ---> No more tedious scrolling nessesary!

- Also when replacing it takes you to the top of the list again --- not fun when replacing the lower listed ones.  ---> When replacing a level the list should stay at that entry, as it is mostly the case that you want to stay at that area of the list.

Version 2.2 is out!

Replaced all levels with an equivalent version, but without steel areas and autosteel usage instead!

- 5 22 has now it's correct music track again.

PimoLems will have a similar update very soon!
