Lix Levels / Re: Wafflem streamed Rubix's singleplayer
« on: October 05, 2017, 03:08:42 PM »
No problem! I am more than happy that I streamed this pack, and I will be more than happy to continue streaming it in the future! :lix-grin:

I thought Slime Time (Pleasant 11), Finding the Safety Net (Pleasant 24) and especially The Ice Box (Pleasant 32) were too hard for Pleasant, while Out of the Blue (Pleasant 18) really belongs in very-early-Pleasant (maybe Pleasant 3).

I'll go ahead, wait here (Pleasant 19) should probably be moved to later-Pleasant due to the miner trick that I would not see in the typical first rank.

Depths of the Ice Cave (Sinister 5) and Fast Money (Sinister 18) should probably be moved to Pleasant, but I didn't use any of the bombers in the latter, so that solution is probably backroute-y. Run Forrest! (Sinister 1), Set Us Free (Sinister 7) and rorriMMirror (Sinister 16) should probably be moved to later-Sinister.

The levels I've enjoyed the most were Tricks of the Trade (Pleasant 5), knocked out (Pleasant 8), I'll go on ahead (Pleasant 19), Getting ahead of the game (Pleasant 20), Lost Underground (Pleasant 20), Start Thinking Strategically (Pleasant 23), Slow Approach (Sinister 3), The Leaning Tower of Lixa (Sinister 4), Depths of the Ice Cave (Sinister 5), Are You Gonna Go My Way? (Sinister 9), All Together Now (Sinister 10, one of my top favorites!), Burning For You (Sinister 13, another top favorite!), I'm Holding Out For a Hero (Sinister 14) and The Center of Attention (Sinister 15).

Yeah, I myself am not too sure about the platformer not turning around when they hit a wall. I do agree with nin10adict that this has the potential to create puzzles that are different from NeoLemmix. The platformer already also makes a 1-pixel height in terrain anyway. I also agree with what he said about marking Lemmings, this is something I use very often when playing NL levels and testing others' levels.

Thanks for summarizing all the issues I've mentioned in the stream as well, Simon! I hope to see you in the next stream for this pack as well, RubiX! :lix-smile:

Levels for v10 or older / Re: [NeoLemmix] SEB Lems (175 levels)
« on: September 21, 2017, 02:33:52 PM »
A huge congratulations to Flopsy for finally releasing SEB Lems after months of hard work and testing!

It has been a great pleasure working with you on testing and all the collab levels that we have both done.

Thank you for making this pack, and thanks as well to all the other people (including SEB) who helped made this pack possible!

I don't mind if radiation is removed. However, is it possible if we can have all the radiation and slowfreeze objects converted into fire objects?

Another suggestion that should be removed if you haven't done so yet: Manual Steel Areas. I really don't see the need for them anymore especially since we have Autosteel. I think you may have already done that though, not sure.

Here's a list of tricks that I can think of:
1. Two lemmings bashing in different directions (this is the same trick used in an LPIV level).
2. Put a blocker in front of a locked exit. The blocker jumps in as soon as the locked exit opens.
3. Lemmings can bash up diagonal steel.
4. A lemming can still float a few pixels in air even if he is finished digging.
5. Lemmings can glide/float into the exit that has no terrain underneath it.
6. Builder-miner trick: a miner can mine down a built bridge.
7. If a ledge is too high for a lemming, you can have a lemming bomb the top of that ledge to be able to get the other lemmings up.

Clam's list of non-glitch tricks can also be a good place for ideas (note that this is only for the traditional 8 skills).

Thanks for the Millas update!

Here are some of the replays + comments of the levels I was able to beat.

Millas v2.1 comments (click to show/hide)

One thing I forgot to say earlier: a huge kudos to Plom510 for the animated Milla sprites! Animating lemming sprites must be difficult, especially including puppy ears, but Plom really made a huge feat in making the sprites! It was also nice to see part of his stream!

NeoLemmix Styles / Re: Raymanni's tilesets
« on: July 24, 2017, 03:17:07 PM »
Thanks for the update and all the additions and improvements you've made!

The new pickup skill designs are awesome, though as namida said these will no longer work once the new NeoLemmix format comes out.

Biolab:
Love the trampoline-esque antisplat pad. A splat pad should also be included.
I'm not sure if it was a good idea to shrink the brown tubes. Please bring the big brown tubes back; I preferred those over the smaller ones.

Circus:
Thanks for turning the silver columns to steel!
This one should also have splat/antisplat pads, and a similar design to the antisplat pad used in Biolab will also be perfect for this one.

Cyberspace:
I don't like the flashing on the antisplat pad; again, it would hurt one's eyes. I would remove the flashing. I would also include a splat pad.

Snow:
The new cave background looks quite awesome and feels reminiscent of Ice Cap Zone. I didn't like it at first, but now it's growing on me; it's definitely a lot better than the squares one. Thanks for adding the snowflakes as well, though I think they could use a little animation (like how LPIV Space's moving background stars are animated)

Toys:
Love the clouds you've added; it makes the tileset so reminiscent of Toy Story    !
The steel beams IMO are hard to work with if one wants to use them to patch some backroutes. I would also include a 16x16 steel block.

Here are my replays!

I haven't beaten all the levels, but a lot of these levels are a mix of fun and challenging, and a lot of them have non-trivial solution! However, I had to rely on Clear Physics mode a lot of times, as the backgrounds can be very distracting.

Millas v1.1d Comments (click to show/hide)

This looks like a very fun pack, and it really shows how much of a Freedom Planet fan you are. Looking forward to the full pack when it comes out! Thanks also again for using my unfinished levels!

All my unfinished levels (+ rejected levels / gimmick levels / etc.) are now re-organized in folders by graphic sets!

Just want to point out that you've uploaded the NXSV of the demo, not the NXP.

Lemmings Main / Re: Tileset ideas thread
« on: June 22, 2017, 02:50:12 PM »
But why stop there? Here's even more!

Chess - a chess board with chess pieces! Well, we've got Gronkling's Minimal graphic set already...

Minesweeper - making such a graphic set should be easy enough; all the sprites already exist! It's good though to make your own custom terrain to complement the sprites though (like how Gronkling made his custom terrain for Menace and BeastII).

Solitaire - preferably the Windows 95 version. Here's some cards if you want to make the tileset!

Volcano - yes, the Fire set already has volcano-like elements such as lava and ash, but someone can make a Volcano graphic set in their own art style, much like how Raymanni made the Snow set in his own style.

Junkyard - junk, junk, junk! Lots of garbage everywhere, crushed cars.

Office - a computer, keyboard, mouse. Bookshelves, telephones, scissors, all kinds of writing supplies. Chairs, couches, you name it. Add some CDs, Floppy Disk Drives, you name it!

Swamp - lots of green water with algae, trees, you name it.

Mushroom - a graphic set made up almost entirely of all kinds of mushrooms, such as red mushrooms with white tops, hydnellum peckii mushrooms, button mushrooms, you name it. Then there's grass and fields and forests of course. A single-use trap is a mushroom causing a lemming to go through hallucinations, then faint from it.

Fairytale - why not a graphic set entirely made of stories based on fairy tales? A castle, Rapunzel's hair, a pumpkin carriage. A single-use trap is a poison apple that the Queen fed Snow White. The exit can be a Fairytale book, and a locked exit will of course be the book opening once the lemming presses all the buttons.

Greece - this city is known for its unique and breathtaking architecture. Who knows, this tileset can really see its full potential in Artlems!

Cappadocia - those geological structures in Turkey are also some of the most breathtaking and most unique out there, and makes one wonder how these structures were carved in the first place. A hot air balloon can serve as the exit.

Heaven - how do we not have a Heaven-type tileset yet? You've got clouds, water, sunshine, nice marble bricks, water, and the Gates of Heaven as an exit.

Lava Lamp - uh...colored lava and lava lamps?

Plasma - a tileset made of electricity...but most of the tileset will just involve electrocuting the lemming anyway. But we can resolve that with petrified lightning as terrain!

BeastI and BeastIII - How does BeastI not have its own graphic set already? Though people already have their reasons - it's hard to divide A BeastI of a Level into smaller pieces, but perhaps someone one day will have the skills to make this happen. BeastIII could also use its own tileset, using Gui55's VGASPEC as a starting point.

Crash Bandicoot - the tiles can be ripped from Crash Bandicoot: A Huge Adventure since all the levels from that game are very heavily based on the Crash 2: Cortex Strikes Back levels.

Fidget - Fidget cubes, Fidget spinners, anything that people use as a way to distract themselves from the stresses of everyday life.

Mandala - a graphic set consisting of mandalas of all shapes and sizes, you name it.

On a side note, the Beach tileset can have a single-use trap, an oyster - why not have the oyster eat the lemming, and turn him into a pearl? :8():

Great ideas as well, GigaLem and möbius! Queelag's Domain, Catacombs, Oriental, Train Station/Subway, Neon, Abandoned Hospital, Arcade and Gingerbread sound very neat! For the Cheese one, cheese does already exist in Raymanni's Food tileset, but I agree that there should be more types of cheese (and as you said, nachos!).

By the way, if anyone wants to make more Sonic-based graphic sets, then pretty much everything you need is in the Spriters Resource!

Closed / Re: [Suggestion][Editor]"Permanent Skill" only exits
« on: June 20, 2017, 04:06:09 PM »
I also want to encourage another easy implementation I think; exits that only allow a specific number of lemmings in [displayed with a number above that counts down] and then close when that limit is reached. Kind of like the opposite of a locked exit.

I'd be totally down for this idea, this has the potential to create a lot of interesting puzzles. You could for example have a 4-exit level, and four lemmings; each exit has a 1-lemming limit, basically meaning that all four exits must be used by one lemming each.

A problem on one hand is that we are limited to using locked exits in order for this to work, but then again we can mix graphic sets. But on another hand, I'm thinking that if one wanted to use a regular exit instead of the locked, perhaps put a "Do Not Enter" sign over the exit (two suggestions on how this could be done in the picture below)? Not my best idea, but it's a start.

The numbers should also be displayed in regular mode, not just Clear Physics mode.

I'd like to see an experimental implementing these ideas so we can test this more, along with exits only allowing permanent skills.

The custom nails look really nice! I'd go with that!

bsmith and Proxima made remakes of all the L2 Classic levels, which should now be okay to add to the Extra Player.

Also, Ron_Stard's Spectrum/NES levels should be added. The only problem now with this is that he still has yet to recreate one more level, which is Spectrum Level 60: "Environmentally Friendly"

There are some tiles in the L2 Classic tribe that are not part of the L1 Pillar set, such as some unique wood pieces and steel pieces. As such, these should be officially added to the Pillar tileset before the next NeoLemmix update comes out.

Included in the ZIP are all the pieces that are part of the L2 Classic set. classic_17.png, classic_40.png, classic_42.png, classic_45.png, classic_47.png - classic_64.png and some others I may have missed are the unique pieces. I found these from Geoff's Lemmins.
