Here is my new level. It's called "In the Sight of the Colossus" . This level contains AI art .

In order to play it , you will need an updated version of the "turrican special" tileset . I have attached it in this post.

I have also attached the replay of the solution.

Link for the music track , for the level : https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=42161

For the music track , create a folder , called "Turrican projects" in your music folder , and put the music track  inside that folder.

Here is how the level looks :

I have uploaded, the version 1.10 of the pack. It  contains a small fix for Bonus 1  - "All that a Basher can Do" by Dodochacalo  .
The fix is : I have replaced the water in the level , with acid.

The replay collection of the 1.09 version of the pack , solves also this version.

I have uploaded, the version 1.09 of the pack , which contains a level conversion of a level from the Neolemmix version of the pack .

The level is : Wicked 6 - "To the Stargate!" .

The changes that contains , compared to the original version , are that I removed the following pick-up skills : 2 stoners , and 1 platformer , added a freezer as a pickup skill , and increased the save requirement , from 38 to 40 .

I have upladed also , the updated replay collection, which also, contains , the replay of the solution , of the new level.

Also I have uploaded , the updated version of the soundtrack of the pack , in my dropbox , and I have posted , in the first post , the link for my dropbox , which contains , the updated soundtrack , of my pack.

Here is how the level looks ( for the ones , that haven't seen the Neolemmix version ) :

I have uploaded, the version 1.08 of the pack. It contains updated versions of two levels , that need to be updated , due to changes in shimmier physics. The levels are :

Wicked 7 - "Underwater Caverns" : I did some small changes on the terrain , added a button , removed a cloner , and reduced the save requirement by 1.

Bonus 3 - "The House With the Thin Foundations" : Added a fire object , reduced the shimmiers by one , and made them pick-up skills , and also added two walkers and one jumper.

Also I have added a "Lemmix to Neolemmix/Superlemmix" level conversion of "All that a Basher can Do" by Dodochacalo. The level is placed on the Bonus rank ( first level of the rank ) .

This is, a level that I had modified from the Lemmix version of Revenge of the Lemmings v1 , some years ago , and also , I had made a version of that , for Superlemmini .  The level was in the beta version , of the Lemmix version of RotL , but It was about to be replaced , because in order to be solved , it required a Lemmini-only glitch.

My modifications here , are to make the level possible to be solved , without the use of that Lemmini-only glitch. It is a non-glitch level now , but also it's intended solution is close to the original one.

I have upladed also , the updated replay collection.

Also , I have uploaded , the updated version of the soundtrack of the pack , in my dropbox , and I have posted , in the first post , the link for my dropbox , which contains , the updated soundtrack , of my pack.

In this post I will put a link for the "Lemmix to Neolemmix" level conversion , that I have posted in the Random level sharing topic .

Here is the post , from the From the random level sharing topic :

This is a level that I had modified from the Lemmix version of Revenge of the Lemmings v1 , some years ago , and also , I had made a version of that , for Superlemmini . The level is "All that a Basher can Do" by Dodochacalo . The level was in the beta version , of the Lemmix version of RotL , but It was about to be replaced , because in order to be solved , it required a Lemmini-only glitch (unfortunately we never had a final version of RotL for Lemmix . It only remained in beta) .

My modifications here , is to make the level possible to be solved , without the use of that Lemmini-only glitch. It is a non-glitch level now , but also it's intended solution is close to the original one.

I have also attached the replay of the solution.

Link for the music track , that I use for the level : https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=108047

For the music track , create a folder , called "Turrican projects" in your music folder , and put the music track  inside that folder.

NeoLemmix Levels / Re: Revenge of the Lemmings 2022
« on: October 13, 2023, 03:46:45 PM »
Now I'm very curious about the intended solution to "The Brick." It wouldn't surprise me if there are easier solutions than the one I found. I did try to see if I could find other solutions to the level but alas I couldn't. In any case, the Outakes pack now has a solution to every level, including the missing level 230 - The Brick.

Relatively recently , I had solved the Lemmix version of the level , so I decided to make a video of my solution. Compared to your solution , my solution handles the lower part of the level , a bit differently.

Link for the video of my solution : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rGcABvP680

EDIT : Ericderkovits , just informed me , that this solution won't work at all in Neolemmix, due to a difference in the miner tunnel , between the engines! But also , I think my solution, may be close to the intended solution , considering, the level had been made  for older engines.

I have uploaded, the version 1.07 of the pack. It contains the Superlemmix version of my new level  ( which , I made it work on Superlemmix by replacing the stoners , it contained , with freezers ) . That level is : Bonus 4 - "The Astral Monolith" . That level contains AI art .

In order to play it , you will need an updated version of the "turrican special" tileset . I have attached it in the first post.

NeoLemmix Main / Re: Longest custom level?
« on: August 25, 2023, 03:17:10 PM »
The longest level that I have created, is a Level for Lemmix (which I have posted it on the "Lemmix Level Pack Topic") . It is called "The squares fight back (part 2) , it has a time limit of 20 minutes , and it's intended solution, is close to 17 minutes.

The longest levels that I have created for Neolemmix, are "Airborne Rodents" , which has an intended solution, that is close to 13 minutes, and "Cyberlems 2555 - Part 2" , which has an intended solution, that is around 12 minutes. Both levels , can be found in my pack , called "Mikes Lemmings Version 2".

The longest level , that I have solved is a level for Neolemmix by nin10doadict , called "By popular demand" , and my solution for that level , was close to 20 minutes. That level , can be found on the Casualemmings 2.0 pack.

Quote from: Strato Incendus
In short: One of the potential obstacles Turrican could add to his levels, in order to continue to enforce the Shimmier-Freezer-Cloner-Jumper combo, would be short sloped overhangs with a 1:2 ratio. This can be done either by extending the vertical overhang into a slope, or by cutting such a steep slope into it (=by erasing terrain).
Either way: Just make sure not to provide so many Shimmiers on such a level that the player could overcome this obstacle by Shimmier-spamming, as explained above, instead of using the much more elegent four-skills combo. ;)

First of all , thank you for your suggestion, and it is a pretty good one!
I will keep it , in mind! I also tried to test, some other possible workarounds too , but there is at least one level, that will have serious problems, because the new shimmier, seems to be way too powerful for that level. It will be too difficult to fix , and there not many ways , to mess with it's terrain, because it is a level that contains AI art. (It's practically , AI art turned into terrain) . I tried some testing, and for each part , I could think of more , and more ways to bypass parts of the terrain, even by shimmier spamming, that you mentioned.

So a possible route , for levels , that will be proven unfixable, is to have a simplified versions of them for the Superlemmix version of the pack, and keep the real versions for the Neolemmix version. In that case , I will not have to remove them , from the Superlemmix version of the pack.

Personally, I am more in favour of the existing behaviour. I think , the existing behaviour has more puzzle potential, and it is more nuanced, that just having a shimmier , just continue climbing , and it requires the player to be more, creative with the skill combos , that are needed for that task. Also , I think, the proposed behaviour, may probably make levels , depending on their terrain , more prone to backroutes.

Several of the levels , that I have created are very tall ( I like tall levels ). And when these contain , shimmiers/climbers , I demand more from the player, than just having their shimmier , just start climbing as described here , without the help of other skills. Strato mentioned, that you can use jumpers , and a nearby wall in order for the lemming to start climbing, the wall you want it to climb, but there are ways to do it , without the need of a nearby wall. A good way for example , is the shimmier-stoner/freezer-jumper-cloner combo, but there are other skill combos , that can achieve the same result.

If/when the new behaviour will be implemented, for my levels that contain both climbers and shimmiers , I will make small changes , on the ceilings , where shimmiers are need to be used , in order to block the new behaviour, and simulate the current behaviour (so the players will need the help of other skills too). I know other level creators, may just want the simplicity of the new proposed behaviour, but from my tall levels , I want them to require a little more from the player, than just apply some shimmiers to a climber, and just sending it to the upper parts of the level, without additional effort.

I have uploaded the version 1.06 of the pack. It contains changes on two levels , that contain zombies, due to changes on zombie speed , that the new version of Superlemmix , contains.

I have uploaded also , the updated replay collection , for the new version pf the pack.

More precisely :
Wicked - 4  "A place Lost in the Aether" : I did a small change on the level. The replay of the intended solution , has not been changed.
Wicked 7 - "Underwater Caverns" : I updated the replay of the intended solution , because it needed a fix , due to physics changes.
Bonus 3 - "The House With the Thin Foundations" : I did a small change on the level , and I changed the save requirement.  The replay of the intended solution also, has been updated.
