Lemmings Main / Re: Name of the musics

Um, maybe you know a different tune for "O little town"? I just Googled "Forest Green", and to me, that's the same tune as "O little town". I've edited the list to include both names.

Most of the musics don't have names as far as I know...... they seem to be original compositions. The ones that are from other sources are (and the numbers refer to the order of the musics in the Mac game):

1 The Cancan (from Orpheus in the Underworld by Offenbach)
5 [I've heard it's from Swan Lake but I don't know if this is true, or if it is, whether the piece has an individual title]
8 How much is that doggy in the window?
9 from The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky
11 Rondo alla Turca, by Mozart
12 London Bridge is falling down
14 O little town of Bethlehem / Forest Green
15 Baby Face
16 Ten green bottles
17 She'll be coming round the mountain

There ya go: the numbering of course refers to the order in which you assign the skills. Some things that may not be clear from the diagram:

Mine at location (1) with the SECOND lemming, allowing the first to go on ahead to do the work.

Bash at location (4) immediately after assigning builder (3), when builder (2) has laid just one brick.

Assign the floater (7) at the BOTTOM of the fall to save time.

Miner (9) continues for exactly FOUR strokes before being given the basher skill.

EDIT: image wasn't appearing so I've just given the link. Click for the solution image!

Maybe slightly less interest now that I've been able to play these levels on the emulator...... but if you want to go ahead with this, you're welcome to take the levels I've done from my backroute remakes set.

P.S. Ahribar: I'll send you what few MID's I've got but they're are probably ones you've already got.

Thanks! Gratefully received..... there was one there I didn't have yet, the one called "LEMMING5B", and I'm very pleased to have got it!

Level 13: Help from a friend

Save 100% of 9
Release rate 60
4 minutes

15 builders, 5 diggers

Good: another one that's fun to do and not too easy -- I'm glad Adam reduced the skills!
Bad: rather ugly the way the graphics are all clumped up in one corner of the level

Level 9: A simple bashing exercise, no?

Save 100% of 60
Release rate 99
3 minutes

Good: Don't ask why, I really enjoy doing the zigzag building.
Bad: There's nothing to it except building and then bashing, and you get more builders than you need.

Right, let's get on with it then!

Level 6: The chasm with no end?

Save 100% of 20
Release rate 50
8 minutes

1 bomber, 1 blocker, 10 each of builder, basher, miner, digger

Good: a nice "hidden exit" level in which, for once, the exit _isn't_ in the most obvious place
Bad: when you know where the exit is it's too easy, and when you don't it could well be too frustrating

But working out exactly how to do the left while leaving enough skills for the right is one of the main frustrations of that level.

Mayhem 26: Lemming eater

Save 100% of 50
Release rate 50
4 minutes

1 each of floater, miner, digger
5 builders
3 bashers

Good: nice 100%er in which you need to work out how to separate your worker lemming from the crowd
Bad: you get more skills than you need. And this would have made an excellent Sunsoft level; it's too easy for a late Mayhem.

Incidentally, the floater makes me wonder if we're dealing with a backroute here. Something like: bash, build over the trap, float, build back to wall (over the trap again) while second lemming digs so the crowd are contained? My solution was: dig, build to the wall from halfway up the stairs, last lemming to come down before the gap closes bashes out and builds over the trap.

Indeed, and my imitation only allows you to lose two, but then it exploits a Cheapo glitch, namely the fact that if you bash in the pixel before a trap you'll go right through it (similar to a trick Insane Steve uses on another level with bashing through a blocker). Unfortunately I no longer have the level..... I semi-accidentally deleted more than half of my Cheapo levels, sets and styles last night....... fortunately mostly all other people's levels, so it will be possible for me to re-obtain them.

Hi,

I'm just starting work on my new sets now and I've finally managed to get the hang of creating styles; so I was wondering how far you guys have got. I do like the Shadow Tribe MIDI but I'm more interested having the ONML ones since I wanted to add those to my styles..... and I haven't got anywhere with looking for them on the internet.

Could any of you who currently have any Lemmings-related MIDIs send them to me (zarathustra47@yahoo.com) so I know which ones haven't yet been done by anyone? Many thanks.

Lemmings Main / Re: Have you passed all levels?
« on: May 12, 2005, 08:59:11 AM »
YES!!!!!! Just beat Havoc 20 at last this morning -- so that's every level of both games!

Now I've just got to beat "Final impediment" and I've beaten all the Genesis levels..... then I guess it's the SMS ones next...... and I suppose if I really want to do the thing properly I have to beat "All the 6s" and "Ohayo Lemming san" if I can somehow find a version with them........ it never ends, does it?  :P

EDIT: Now that I've looked at "The Lemmings Solution" and GameFAQs for that level, it seems my solution was rather different.... and quite a bit easier. I ignored the right lemmings totally, used bombers rather than my second miner to get through the wall before the long ascent, and mined with the left lemmings under the right trapdoor to bring the two sets of lemmings together. If I could be bothered to keep trying I could have saved one more than the requirement this way.

Level 5: BLEEEEEGGGGGGH!

Save 97% of 70
Release rate 20
1 minute

10 climbers, 5 bombers, 5 blockers, 2 of everything else

Good: you only get one minute, so you won't waste hours on different possibilities
Bad: really awful title, and.... let's face it.... big cheapie.

Really bad: and wasn't it Insane Steve who didn't manage to work out Manclimber United?
