Am I the only person to be disappointed at the lack of "normal" smileys? I mean, apart from  and  it's hard to use the Lemmings ones because they don't express any particular emotion........

Levels for other engines / Re: Cheapo Level Pack Topic

I'm trying them out, a few at a time

One criticism: the upside-down "MENACING" was great fun (those irregular strands can be a real obstacle at times) but placing the upside-down "What an awesome level!" as the very next level was a big mistake. Long levels with lots of building can be OK when they have other good features, but two in a row is just meh.

EDIT: oh, and I seem to be missing the style for Level 10.

Actually, I'll just do Level 16 instead, to get this over with. Oh, and I know why you made the "same music" mistake on Level 19. You switched musics 18 and 21 around in the style.
Shit. Thanks for noticing; I've put them the right way round now. I'll put the new style up soon.....

Congratulations!!!?? You don't need to explain why it took so long..... it's hard to notice that it's even possible for the four reds to end up horizontally, right??

Now, for Isu, here's the intended solution to #15:
1. Blue in bottom-left corner to left
2. Green on top row to left
3. Green on far right to left (swap with blue)

Anyways, back to the Hubris set. I've cleared all but 36 and 40 (Well, 37 required a move during a move for me, so I think I solved that one in an unintended way). Seriously, 40 is kind of frustrating -- I've logged about 40 minutes on it now and nothing. The number of "one off" solutions I've found... well, that and about 70% of the leads I've tried getting stopped by accidental clears. Really, it's so easy to make clears you don't want to with that layout.

Of course, I do applaud a stage that stumps me for so long -- I think maybe 3 puzzles total in the original Tetris Attack took me longer than 40 minutes of solve time. And 36 is kind of getting up there, also. Seriously, for two puzzles that seem like there's not a lot to try, they're proving quite a difficult task for me. I'm overall quite impressed with Nuntar's set of puzzles -- a lot of them are the quality of the puzzles in the actual game.
Well, it heartens me to know I've managed to stump you so well. Yes, 40 is very frustrating, but I had a lot of work to do on this one to prevent backroutes, which is why there are so many accidental clears. I think what both of these levels have in common is that each has a sort of trick or twist that you're not likely to stumble on by accident, and that isn't used in any of the original levels, so that could explain why you're finding 36 a lot harder than we both expected.

Can you tell me how you did #37? You might nonetheless be close to the actual solution.

Heh. Of course that was introduced when I corrected the flamethrower's deadly zone limits for the Ordeal. Fixed now by moving the flamethrower in Hotel two pixels down -- and if you re-download, the steel on Ordeal should be fixed as well.

Ah -- so the extra levels on the ROM version aren't the same as the Gameboy ones? Are they all different or just a few?

Here you go

(I've completed up to 3.3 on the extra levels now [EDIT: completed all of worlds 1 to 3], but I skipped ahead to reach this one. The colours are blue, cyan, purple, red and green but no yellow, so Insane Steve might just have remembered wrongly, or he might not have been describing this level.......)

Because we've already messed up the order and there are only four left anyway, I don't mind if you want to review one of the others before 16. That's the Lemming Tower, isn't it? ..... I'd rather you didn't leave that to geoo89, as he's been so nice and done the other boring level for us already   but take another one if you prefer.

Ah, no, see, Isu meant 6.8 of the extra set of levels; I meant that your level 03 is identical to 6.8 of the original set of levels. Still a great level, but.... I can't compare the two, since I haven't got that far with the extras yet; just started playing them today.

Um........ I can't help but notice that three of those are exact copies of the original game's 5.6, 6.7 and 6.8.  :huh2:

Just a suggestion, but, you know, we have an entire sub-forum for Other Games... Maybe move the Tetris Attack discussion to a new thread?

It would be best if a mod could split it off from the topic, but we don't have a mod for Other Games yet.

Onto Nuntar's levels, Assuming you mean the extra set of levels, the Gameboy version of 6-08 (not sure if its the same for SNES) was the hardest level of the game.
I didn't mean the extra set of levels; I would have specified if I had. I've never even played them..... maybe now that I have the ROM I'll take a look, if I can work out how to access them.

EDIT: wow, the extra levels are cool. I beat the first "world", but they are hard -- took me 13 minutes to get that far. I'll try the rest another time.........

It was down nearly all day yesterday and still down first thing this morning. I haven't had any problems at any other times (except that the front page is slow to load).

#36 is one of those ones where either you get the trick to it or you don't   In my opinion it's easier than the rest of the last five just because there are fewer options to try. Well done on getting #39 though.

OK, your solution for #30 is the right one. (With so many lines on this one I wanted to double-check that the different game mechanics hadn't introduced an alternative solution.) That's another one that most solvers I've tried it out on have a lot of problems.

I agree with you about ##26-8; those are among my favourite levels too, and #27 is one of the few that always stumps me when I revisit it, even though I made it! (Along with #37....)

Let's see how you get on with those last few now..... they definitely are the hardest!
