Your right, the CD music is the Lemmings music, the 'ONM Lemmings' specific music was not included.

To be somewhat fair, I'm guessing it is probably an anomaly even for DOS games to have so many releases of the same game with all these  oddball nuances in terms of different installers, different versions of the game EXE supporting slightly different sound/video options, etc.  I'm guessing most "normal" DOS games just have one installer and one version of game files and that's that.  It is kinda inevitable that many releases are bound to "get it wrong" when there are many variations to deal with instead of just one.

Yes, that is the part I will never understand, why not just re-use the Lemmings data files from the original disk release, for all the re-releases?

Lemming 2: The Tribes (with bonus Lemmings) only uses 4.25MB, with Lemmings 2 only using 3.47MB. I expect they could have easily just added Lemmings 2 to the existing CD release of the 'Lemmings & Oh No! More Lemmings' double pack. A triple Lemmings pack, offering CD Audio would have offered much better value.

I believe all known CD-audio versions do not offer the Adlib option, at least based on what I've heard here previously.  If adlib.dat is still included in the game files, there's a decent chance some simple hacking of the game EXE can re-enable it (ie. always do adlib rather than always do CD-audio), like I've done in the past with CustLemm.exe.  Of course, it seems somewhat pointless here when the end result would be more or less the same as playing a floppy release.

The ADLIB.DAT file is included, but there doesn't seem to be any way to enable Adlib support, via the command line at least.

LEMMINGS.EXE uses a CD check, offering setup options when started.
VGALEMMI.EXE runs fine from hard disk, offering EGA/VGA support and all four machine type options.

I was just wondering what all the differences are, when using the High Performance mode in the MS-DOS version of first Lemmings game.

The obvious difference is the improved color for control interface, but what else is effected when enabling High Performance mode?

It is disappointing most of the CD releases are flawed, as the disks releases have even worse problems (copy protected disks).

If you send over the EXE, maybe I can try and see if anything can be done (I probably won't start though until at least the weekend), although it may well be that the programming has been truly removed.

I think they disabled or ripped out some of the code, as only the video options screen (EGA or VGA) is offered, and not the machine type options screen. If I escape past the video options screen,  the machine type options are listed, before it quits. I attached LEMMINGS.EXE, the file is packed though.

Really strange, with the copious amount of storage on a CD, there's no good reason anything needs to be removed.  Granted, CGA and Tandy machines are probably out of fashion by then, but still.

Yes, it makes no sense to strip down the game so much, when CD offers so much space. This CD release only contains 536KB of data.

Interesting.  Let us know once you received it and is able to confirm it has CD audio.  ~$70 USD is probably a bit much for me especially being effectively forced to buy 4 other games I could care less about.  I imagine you have already tried searching for just the special limited edition double pack but got no hits so far?

I bought the 'Fun to Learn' pack for $40 US, which was not too bad, price wise. I made the mistake of ordering the 'CD-ROM edition' of Lemmings too, before starting this thread too. I will post the results of both game editions, when they arrive.

No signs of the original limited edition double pack on Amazon or eBay, and I have been looking for over a month now.

Looks like Canada got the best CD releases, with two different releases from Aztech New Media Corp offering CD audio.

I have been looking worldwide on eBay (and elsewhere) for awhile now, and there has been no sign (even in completed listings) of these Canadian releases at all. The Canadian releases are the very rare ones, which is why I was hoping to find other options.
