Dodochacalo and I are happy to finally release our collaborative levelpack!
It contains 80 levels - 30 by Dodochacalo and 50 by myself - divided into 4 ratings. Our work spanned over a decade with lots of large gaps between short productive frenzies. Our main goal was to try and innovate while staying classic. We mostly used original tilesets, skills and objects, but tried to make levels that would feel fresh, puzzle-wise and/or layout-wise. There are a few exceptions of course, some new skills or objects may appear here and there.

We initially wanted to make 50 to 60 levels each but since we were making slow progress we thought better to release it now than wait another decade :crylaugh: We had to compose the ratings with what we had and that's why the difficulty may be bumpy at times. This being said, the pack may get updates in the (far) future with new content. :)

Now for a quick presentation of the ratings:

1/ Incipio (~ I begin)
Note: There are only a few levels by Dodochacalo here but don't worry, some gems are wating for you later.

RELEASE THE KRAKEN!

2/ Proficio (~ I progress)

Latecomers

3/ Scando (~ I climb up)

20,000 Lems Under the Sea

4/ Impero (~ I rule)

Itinéraire Touristique

Some people here already played my levels. You'll find them mostly unchanged here except for a few tweaks and backroute fixes. The main change I made is that I removed The Architect was on Acid and replaced it with another mystery level somewhere in the pack.

We hope you will enjoy these levels! Any feedback is of course appreciated, and replays (even mean ones) are welcome. :D

The game and rating logos were made by Dodochacalo!

---

Thanks to the people that helped us test levels over the years - I hope I won't forget anyone: Akseli, Mobius, Uberwolfie and David

---

[work in progress] Here is a few details about the levels (we each commented on our own levels):

Spoiler
01/ Haute Voltige
This is french, meaning "acrobatic act". At first this level required a trick involving a floater turning around mid-air with a hanging blocker and a well-timed bomber. But as I originally made this level for Lemmini, at some point I decided this was too tedious to pull off and completely changed the solution. Now it's an easy level. Easy levels are nice too. :crylaugh:

02/ VDNKh
The title is a reference to the video game / book Metro 2033. VDNKh is a Russian metro station where some of the plot takes place. At the center of the map you can see a defense post with a flamethrower and a barricade. Further on the right a breach goes deep into the unknown, from which creatures may come out. :scared:

03/ What the Frick Frack Patty Wack?
This one was just to showcase this odd (but fun) basher on steel behaviour.

04/ Sandstones May Break My Bones
Easiest level of the pack that only exists for its sequel... (see: Incipio 15 below)

05/ Formal Semantics of Modal Logics
This is a simple inversion. The over-the-top layout and title are just to make it look more convoluted than it is.

06/ Quid Pro Quo
Just tried to make a lovely little puzzle here. Sometimes I find it harder to make good easy puzzles and I'm happy when I manage to stay focused on a simple idea without overcomplicating it.

07/ Smells Like Team Spirit
This is your typical basher level! I really love those, and I tried to make this one interesting and fun to figure out. I think the reference in the title is obvious?

08/ As not easy as it doesn't look
This level is broken and needs serious maintenance. It may disappear in a later version of the pack. :-\

09/ Brace Yourself, Fall is Coming
First made for Lemmini, with a self-made rightward entrance. Its title is a reference to Game of Thrones' famous motto ("Brace Yourself, Winter is Coming").

10/ RELEASE THE KRAKEN
This is purely a layout oriented level. I just wanted to make a giant octopus for some reason. :crylaugh:

11/ Bridges in the Sky
The title is a song by Dream Theater. I tried to build a layout inspired by this but I'm not really satisfied with the result.

12/ Mountains
Here is a heavy reference to one specific scene from the movie Interstellar. I'm not a fan of this movie but that scene stuck with me ever since and I thought it would be interesting to try and depict it in NeoLemmix.

13/ Something Wicked This Way Comes
Reference to the novel by Ray Bradbury.

14/ Architects of Fortune
Using the chain terrain piece to its full potential! The title is a reference to this song by Circus Maximus.

15/ Been There, Done That
First sequel, where bashers are now miners! An easy level though. (see: Incipio 04 above)

16/ Novelty Act
Another try to extend the basher capacity. This level is clearly gimmicky. Also I got the title here.

17/ Paucity
Just a little puzzle with a few skills. This is the very first level I created for this project!

18/ Ethereal Refinery
No idea how I came up with this title. I guess the lemmings flowing down made me think of droplets running down a still? :crylaugh:

19/ Convoi Prioritaire
This is french, I guess you could translate it is "priority convoy". The idea being that the crowd must not be stopped nor turned around. Make way for the Lemming train!

20/ Graph Theory
Initially assigned to a "bonus" rating, this level isn't just about lucky die and retry if you know how... The design here is quite simple yet resembles a pre-Columbian temple. Its title is a reference to the mathematical theory of interconnected objects.

Spoiler
01/ A Good Lem is a Dead One
My very first Fiat Lem! level, harder to complete on Lemmini (due to bomb timing).

03/ The Wall
Minimalist design on purpose. Its minimalist title is a reference to Game of Thrones' giant ice wall.

05/ Fire & Blood
Part one of a diptych whose gimmick is to have two entirely identical levels (including skills) with just one little difference: entrance and exit were switched! (see: Proficio 15 below)

08/ Snowpiercer
A well-known technique that requires meticulous preparation here. Snowpiercer is a French comic world famous for its cinematographic adaptation.

10/ Ancient Astronauts
Having only one builder forces you to use your miners and diggers wisely. One of my favorite designs, due to its simplicity; the structures made of bricks and stairs somewhat resemble the idea I have of an alien spaceship, hence the title.

12/ Paved With Good Intentions
I always loved puzzles with only a few builders, the poor creatures having no choice but to wander through the level. I guess blockers can be more than just single-use. As the proverb says, what is "paved with good intentions" is the road to... hell.

14/ Latecomers
If it had not been for the low release rate, that level would have been of little interest, except for its design that mimics 3D graphics.

15/ Blood & Fire
Part two of a diptych whose gimmick is to have two entirely identical levels (including skills) with just one little difference: entrance and exit were switched! That second puzzle is supposed to be slightly harder to complete, not enough for the Scando rating though (see: Proficio 05 above)

17/ Bad Reflections
Punny title (a lot of my levels include symmetrical layout though... and punny titles); made easy by its limited room for maneuver... and the conversion to NeoLemmix. The gallows isn't really a problem here, is it?

20/ Eclectic Power
Two nearly identical halves that must be solved differently (hence the punny title). Maybe a little too difficult for the Proficio rating.

Edit 04/13/24 - Due to the Dodochacalo / Pieuw levelpack soon becoming a thing, PiPoPAck will become obsolete and I'm locking this topic and removing the attachment. See you soon in another topic ! :D

In Development / Something in progress - No name yet
December 30, 2016, 10:08:20 AM
Hello there :)

I haven't posted in a while but I still come around regularly to read stuff. It's great that this Lemmings sanctuary is still active after all these years!

I wanted to let you know that Dodochacalo and I have been working on a collaborative Lemmini pack for quite some time now... *cough* two years *cough* and, for various reasons, we're making reaaaaally slow progress. We made about 20 levels each (yep, very slow).

We used to test each other's levels, but Dodo hasn't been around for a while and I have a bunch of mine left untested. So I was thinking I could ask here if someone would be interested in testing / backrouting / tearing apart some levels. Then I could move on and I guess it would be motivating not to be alone on this.

Ok so that's it. Maybe I'll add some screens in the future to make the topic more... welcoming :D

Happy holidays everyone!

===== Edit 11/14/22 =====

I attached a few levels as a mini demo.

Paucity

It's the first level I made for the project so I think it's a good starter! This one is on the easy side but as the title suggests the skills here are a bit scarce.

Forbidden Friendship

A two lemmings puzzle, one of my favorite kind of levels :D

Viaduc Caduc

I attached this one mostly to collect opinions on its solution. When I sent it to Dodo he had a mixed reaction, something about the solution bugged him so I'm not sure what to think about it. To me it honestly doesn't feel far-fetched at all :crylaugh: I'm curious to know what people think about it. It may very well seem vanilla for the custom scene.

More to come in the future!

Hello folks, it's been a while :-[

I was rummaging through some levels I made one or two years ago with NeoLemmix (V1.14n-A if I'm not mistaken). These are levels made for Lemmini, and two of them can't be opened and make the game crash. When I open them with the editor I got this "List index out of bounds" error if I click on the layout. Some pieces of terrain and objects are still clickable though. I tried to open them with the latest NeoLemmix Editor version, it does exactly the same.

It seems odd because I was able to play these levels back then, I'm not sure what caused this problem. Is there any hope to salvage them? In the worst case I guess I'll have to remake them from scratch.

Thanks for reading this. I see the community is still very active which is awesome

Hey everyone http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/smiley.gif" alt=":)" title="Smiley" class="smiley" />

I'm happy to announce that the Lemmini Level Pack I've been working on for quite a long time is now ready ! It contains 120 levels divided into 6 ratings and 23 bonus levels. This includes some of the levels I made for my Lemmings 2007 pack (sliiiiiiightly improved though), levels from my 4 previous Lemmini packs and levels I made especially for this new big pack. I also added new tunes that come from http://modarchive.org/" class="bbc_link" target="_blank">The Mod Archive (I did not compose them myself).

If you're wondering about the name ''PimoLems'', it is a matter of first name and last name. I just followed the examples set by MazuLems and DoveLems.

Ratings

1 – Calm

Beginning with the calm rating, you'll find kind levels in terms of difficulty, time and % of Lemmings to save. Don't get used to it though.
Difficulty ~ Fun / Tricky.

http://img96.xooimage.com/files/4/9/a/1-lemstones-3fd2e23.png" alt="" class="bbc_img" />

Calm 07 - Lemstones
Even if these levels are easy, you won't have to ''Just Dig!''

2 – Windy

The wind is rising, making your hair raising. A sign that puzzling levels are coming ! They are very gentle ones, though you may lose some hair if you don't apprehend them correctly.
Difficulty ~ Tricky to Taxing.

http://img99.xooimage.com/files/1/8/5/2-diggersmania-3fd2e32.png" alt="" class="bbc_img" />

Windy 06 – Diggers Mania
Be warned that strange architectures may occur. Do not let them distress you.

3 - Stormy

There's a storm coming, and it's a serious one. Puzzles are getting tougher, bombers suddenly like to walk and even a few glitches slipped into some levels (see below for more information about glitches).
Difficulty ~ Taxing to Mayhem.

http://img97.xooimage.com/files/1/6/c/3-sological-3fd2e5d.png" alt="" class="bbc_img" />

Stormy 15 – So Logical
Some of the Stormy levels may try to make you believe they are piece of cake. Don't trust them.

4 - Hurricane

Abandon all hope ye who enter here. And grab something solid if you don't want to fly away in the wind. We're dealing with harsh levels demanding serious thinking, precision, and they're quite tight on time.
Difficulty ~ Mayhem and beyond.

http://img98.xooimage.com/files/1/d/f/4-masssuicide-3fd2e82.png" alt="" class="bbc_img" />

Hurricane 10 – How To Prevent a Mass Suicide
Well, I'm sure you'll find a way to show them the way. Anyway.

5 - Pickaxe

We're not in the standard ratings anymore. This one is all about miners, miners, miners. Because yes, I love miners. This skill offers so many possibilities and craziness ! So, here are levels where you'll have to execute various tricks involving pickaxe manipulation.
Difficulty ~ Tricky to beyond Mayhem.

http://img95.xooimage.com/files/8/3/5/5-roadtoruin-3fd2e99.png" alt="" class="bbc_img" />

Pickaxe 18 – Lemmings on the Road to Ruin
Don't let this one ruin your day, cross your fingers and you'll be on the high road.

6 - One

Another non-standard rating that only contains one-minute-levels. Who likes to be rushed by the clock ? I don't, but I made 20 of these levels anyway.
Difficulty ~ Tricky to beyond Mayhem.

http://img96.xooimage.com/files/f/e/e/6-baptised-3fd2eb3.png" alt="" class="bbc_img" />

One 08 – Baptised With a Perfect Name
Well, I think it's pretty obvious that you have to HURRY UP here.

7 - Special

This special rating only contains 3 levels I made with the Castle tileset (from the game Nicky Boum) that I created years ago. There may be more of them to come in the future.
Difficulty ~ Tricky / Taxing.

http://img97.xooimage.com/files/0/9/0/7-marblegallery-3fd2ec6.png" alt="" class="bbc_img" />

Special 03 – Marble Gallery
Will you be able to get past the marble ?

8 - Extra

Here's the additional rating, containing levels that did not make it into the ''real'' ones. Most of them had too many backroutes or were too lame to fit anywhere else. I included them in this pack anyway as bonus levels, because the more the better !
Difficulty ~ Fun to Mayhem.

http://img97.xooimage.com/files/b/3/7/8-backwardtrain-3fd2efe.png" alt="" class="bbc_img" />

Extra 10 – Backward Train
Don't even ask about the title.

A word about the glitches

I know everyone isn't fond of glitches, I personally see them as a way to explore new possibilities and some of them are simply mind-blowing. I consider as a glitch something that is not supposed to happen at all, doesn't make sense or is really obscure. Just to be clear, I didn't use hardcore glitches in these levels. One of them is tricky to figure out but the others are not that bad and most of them are fun to execute. My goal is not to use glitches to make impossible levels, but to make them entertaining. Note that some of the game mechanics are quite strange but are not glitches, though. You'll find in the Read Me file the name of the 6 levels that have a glitchy solution.

Feedback

If you have anything to say about this pack, please do. It is now ready to be released but faaaar from perfect, and I guess it will be in constant progress forever. So if you have any remarks, suggestions, if you think a level is misplaced in its rating, or if a title sounds incorrect (English is not my native language)... I'm opened to any feedback, good or bad.
You will find many ways to contact me in the Read Me file.

Now there's only one thing to say... have fun ! I hope you will, anyway. http://www.lemmingsforums.com/Smileys/lemmings/laugh.gif" alt=":D" title="Laugh" class="smiley" />
