Off course I am not speaking in general terms, there are many good levels in it.
And you know it hasn't anything to do with minimalistic or elaborate, that's a matter of preference I think.

But you said it yourself :"a good level requires both the level's visual design and puzzle design to be interesting"

Thanks for your response, and we'll see...
btw, the picture below might be my next "Lemmings challenge"
Looking forward for some interesting, nicely built levels,

Level Design / Architectural levels (hubbart)
« on: July 22, 2010, 12:54:28 AM »
Dear levelmakers/players

We always try to build nice looking levels, because we believe that's part of the concept.
.
Just piling up elements doesn't look (and feel) right, and it seriously breaks down enthousiasm solving the levels offered... at least that's our experience....

We think it's nicer to upload 8 good looking and playable levels (we agree... it takes time) instead of 80 heaps of elements with a solution hidden in it somewhere, where the lucky click is needed", .
That's how we see it, you don't have to agree, just think about it. It would be nice if this game could go on and even grow a bit, but in this way I don't think it will.

Help & Guides / switching exits?
« on: June 30, 2010, 02:36:24 AM »
I built a level with two exits (where they fall out of)
in the editor: no problem, but in the player the exits had suddenly switched.

In total 3 lemmings, so 2 from exit 1 (left), and 1 from the second exit (right).
So suddenly (in the lemmixplayer) I had two lemmings on the right and one on the left, while it should be the other way round.

I had to switch them and play (test) it over and over again in the (lemmix) player to get it right...

Any ideas?

It doesn't kill any lemming...

Help & Guides / Re: How to make steel into real steel???
« on: May 13, 2010, 08:24:31 PM »
thanks, I remember indeed... it must have some overlap (lemedit)
I'll try.

And thanks for the compliment

But as it is in the original games:
the puzzle must be packed in a visual attractive way.
That's part of the challenge...

I'm working on my first new level now (see the beginning of it), maybe Bart will also start again, but it's a hell of a job to do it right...

Help & Guides / Re: lvl-files to dat.package
« on: April 28, 2010, 11:06:31 PM »
OK, it works... thanks!

this package (hubbart00.dat) is our last one from about 3 or 4 years ago.
Maybe we will try to build some new ones in the near future.

Help & Guides / Re: Final Question about ONML-Editor!
« on: April 18, 2010, 09:20:28 AM »
Well, I believe I finally got it all working now.

And yes, it's Hubert and Bart, we made several levelpackages a few years ago...

with this "lemmix" it is fun to play Lemmings again (lemmings for windows / Dosbox is no fun ot play because too small and you can't be "pixel-precise")

Help & Guides / Thanks a lot!!!
« on: April 15, 2010, 09:17:08 AM »
I understand that re-asking the question is not the right thing, but I got no more answers, while the problem still existed.

But now it works!!! THANKS A LOT

one question left:
I now use 2 editors:
one for original lemmings and the other for ONML (because I had no Idea which DAT-files were needed and I didn't want files to be overwritten. I copied these DAT-files from the Delphi-source on the Lemmix-site)

Isn't it possible opening/editing/building levels from lem1 and ONML with just ONE editor (instead of two)?
If it is, could you zip such an editor and attach it? I can (better dare) not further experiment on this: I am glad I got it working because I am no expert (as you may have noticed) but I (and a friend) like building levels.

thank again, H. Willems and B. Leunissen, Holland

Help & Guides / Final Question about ONML-Editor!
« on: April 14, 2010, 11:15:17 PM »
:(    as clear as possible (I speak Dutch)

From LEMMIX I have downloaded DOS OhNo More Lemmings! 1.3

from the delphi source I threw i threw in all the dat-files I hoped (remembered from the older Lem Edit) necessary to make it work.

And it does work: I can open any ONML level or levelpack, edit it and play it in the play-mode of the editor

and now my problem:

I can't play ANY level in the lemmix-player, whatever I try.

Question:

Is it impossible or am I doing something wrong?
there are several ONML-levels available for download so I guess
they must be playable???

Could anyone please just attach a WORKING combination ot the editor/player for ONML here?

Everything works perfect for DOS Lemmings 1.3, but NOT for DOS OhNo Lemmings! 1.3

Thanks again, H. Willems, Netherlands
