I'd like to add two interesting details about this level that can be used to complete it faster.

a) The lever that empties the aquarium also summons a deadly shredder. As Kaywhyn discovered, the aquarium remains empty if you return the lever to its original position. The shredder, however, becomes harmless again.

b) Walkthroughs  for this level (including the one in the Lemmings wiki) recommend using a safety net for the fall from the middle platform. This is completely unnecessary. Even though it is hard to see, the fall height from the top platform is greater than from the middle platform.

In the following video, I used the points mentioned above to get all 100 Lemmings into the balloon within 2 minutes.

I've never had a weasel be set free and not die from the shredders but that seems like a remote possibility.

It is indeed possible. I was a bit shocked today when I thought I had won the game with 100% and suddenly the weasel appeared...

Quote from: mobius on September 19, 2018, 12:11:11 AMUnder and Up is one of the main candidates (which I mentioned earlier) as seeming to indicate that they intentionally created backroutes in some of these levels. As to why; I have no idea.

Level 8.3 "Under and Up" is usually solved via a backroute. This solution assumes the lava pit hasn't been emptied, uses all three switches, and relies heavily on the teleporters. It should be close to the intended solution.

This improved solution saves 60 of 60 Lemmings :)

11-13: The Diving Board

Quote from: LemSteven on June 26, 2011, 07:19:28 AMLemmings Revolution
(100% unless noted)

The level "Diving Board" isn't mentioned in LemSteven's list, so one might assume it's 100% solvable. However, I couldn't find a video of a 100% version; even YouTuber Pirohiko only managed a 99/100 solution. The reason for this quickly became clear when I played the level myself: you have to turn two Lemmings into blockers, but you can only use the "reset a bomber" glitch on one of them because you only have one bomb available. At that moment, I remembered an old post by ccexplore where he mentioned that nuking can also be used for the "reset a bomber" method:

Quote from: ccexplore on December 16, 2011, 10:25:51 PMBombers
    • reset a bomber:  after a bomber finishes the countdown ("oh-no") but before he actually explodes, you can assign a non-bomber, non-permanent skill, and this will "reset" him so he doesn't explode.  This works on blockers about to explode too, so you can free a blocker this way.
    • The same glitch above also works with lemmings about to explode due to nuking, after the nuke countdown finishes when the lemmings start their "oh-no".

So I waited until all the Lemmings were in the balloon and then pressed "nuke." And indeed, the "reset a bomber" worked. You can find some pictures of it attached.

...
Bad: Other than that there isn't much to this level. It's just 1 long builder bridge, some timed bombers (blah) and sacrificing some lemmings to close the door at the top. I found this level sort of bland.

I agree with mobius that the level seems boring at first glance. But ccexplore and LemSteven have creatively thought about this level and found two different solutions for how to save the 5 lemmings that are normally sacrificed to clear the way to the balloon:

Quote from: ccexplore on December 29, 2011, 10:02:31 AMLemmings Revolution level 8-4 ("Nice shootin' tex!") improved to 46/50.  This one actually turns out to be a nice, tricky challenge-style puzzle with only one miscellaneous glitch at the end (which merely saves 1 more).  Due to the time limit, unfortunately I can't use this method for 47/50.

Quote from: LemSteven on January 18, 2012, 07:09:54 AMI found another (easier) way of getting 46/50 on Lemmings Revolution level 8-4 (Nice shootin' tex).  This one is completely glitch-free, and uses less skills and has more time left over than the one ccexplore presented (which was still very good, incidentally).  Unfortunately, despite the spare skills, I doubt this method can be improved to save 47/50.

I have successfully tested both strategies (see the attached images).

...
Bad: With good timing, you can reach the top of the wall without activating the speed-up pad.  Meanwhile, with poor timing, it is possible to fail even if you do activate the speed-up pad.  Without many extra skills to stall with, getting the timing right is a matter of trial and error.

There's only one anti-gravity pad in this level. I don't like how the flipped ones are treated like disposable items. There also seems to be a bug with the flipped ones. If you watch ColorfulArty's (final) video of this level, for example, you can see a flipped one just disappear.

3-3: 18/20

I've been puzzling over how LemSteven managed to save 18 out of 20 lemmings in level 3.3 ("Block and Bomb"). He doesn't seem to have offered any explanation for this, at least I couldn't find one. Today I discovered a very simple way to achieve this result. You simply let the lemmings fall directly into the balloon. Apparently, they survive every fall this way. Attached is a picture of the result.

Quote from: LemSteven on September 23, 2012, 11:14:36 PMLevel 11-8 (Speedy Gonzalez): 100% (Previous record was 52/53).

I followed the strategy suggested by LemSteven. The only issue I found with it was that the two individual lemmings, one of which becomes the trailblazer, walk much closer together than under the usual strategy. This is because "Speedy Gonzalez" only builds one staircase instead of two, and the switch is also flipped by another lemming. I recorded a video of it, and if anyone is interested, I could upload it to YouTube.

50 Lemmings, save all
6:15

1 floater, bomber and blocker. 13 builders, 1 miner

Good:
After a string of backroutes and way too easy levels finally, a decent challenge.

I have a nice backroute for this level. No teleporters or switches touched and three builders left... ;)

Quote from: LemSteven on December 15, 2011, 11:59:41 PMEDIT: Taking another look through my scores, I improved 11-7 (Don't Let them out!) to 49/50, glitch-free.  Fairly straightforward, actually.

Well, today I found a way to achieve 49/50. I guess one can call it "glitch-free" and "fairly straightforward", but of course it uses the well know backdoor.

I also have a version which does not use the backdoor. Here I achieve 48/50.

Ok, now I finally managed to save 57 lemmings.

Two stacks of blockers are needed for this. The first is made up of three "oh-noers" (see the Pirohiko video), the second of two floaters and one "oh-no" lemming. The aforementioned staircase is also part of the solution. Attached are a few screenshots of my video.

In the meantime, I've managed to optimize the Pirohiko strategy a bit. I replaced a bomber with a staircase. This way, I can now save 56 out of 60 lemmings. The bridge must be placed precisely (see the attached image). Of course one could also optimize the bombing itself and then use the staircase to save all of the three stacked blockers. Nevertheless, it's still a mystery to me how to achieve 57 saves.

Quote from: LemSteven on December 15, 2011, 11:59:41 PMEDIT 2: I also improved 11-10 (Lemming be thy name...) to 57/60.  This one takes advantage of the fact that "oh-noers" can survive splat falls, as well as stacking blockers to make the falls survivable for the others.

Are there any further details about this claimed solution available? I ask because Pirohiko solved this level in 2008 using exactly the same method as described by LemSteven above and was only able to save 5 of the worker lemmings (a total of 55 out of 60). Pirohiko's solution can still be viewed on YouTube:

Quote from: IchoTolot on September 28, 2025, 08:44:29 PMI can assure you that the level is still solvable.  ;)

I attached a replay of the intended solution working on the newest version if you want to have a guide.

So from two possible solution pathways one is left and finally someone will use the intended one. Thanks anyway.;)

I wanted to follow kaywhyns Video tutorial on Lemmings Reunion. But apparently he uses an older version of the levels -- e. g. Level 1.30 was substantially changed and seems now much harder to solve (if it is at all solvable). Has someone still the older version of the Levels available (for NeoLemmix)?
