Title: Havoc 20, 83% is lose-10, not lose-12
Post by: redddevil on November 03, 2020, 06:26:09 PM
Please pardon me if I'm in the wrong place.
I seem to have a Lemmings version that can't count!
In Oh No, Havoc level 20 I have used 11 of my original 40 bombers to blast the required path.
I have lost the obligatory athlete in freeing those on the left and thus should have saved 68 of the original 80 which would be enough (85%).
However it says I've only saved 80% which is 64 Lemmings and I can't for the life of me work out where the other 4 have got to.
I have a screen shot showing only 11 bombers used just to prove I'm not going mad!
If this isn't the right place to query this then please advise.
TFYH

Edit Simon: Topic title to mention Havoc 20

Have any lemmings died in other ways (splatting, falling off the bottom, or getting caught by the gecko trap)?

Welcome to the forums, redddevil! The screenshot appears to be the Dos version of ONML. Is that correct? I grew up with this version, and I have never ever encountered this problem. Just like namida said, the only thing I can think of is that the 4 lemmings must had died in some way, probably from splatting or from getting eaten by the lizard. I think it's likely the latter, since even though it looks like it on the right side, you were still able to save that crowd and therefore it couldn't be from splatting. Here, did you bomb the first lemming that fell out of the left entrance? From what I can gather, it's impossible to die by falling off the bottom of the screen?

Guys - many thanks for the replies.
I've just tried this again wearing my glasses and realised I made a VERY dumb mistake!
There are only 60 lemmings not 80 so it's my calculation that's wrong!
Profuse apologies for wasting your time and back to practising my bomber timing!

Oh yes, you are correct. That means you can only lose 10 lemmings, meaning if you lose the athlete to the lizard you can really only use 9 bombers max.

^ It is possible, with perfect bomber timing, to save the athlete on the left side, although it's certainly not easy.

I have one other suggestion in the spoiler below.  It's a little tricky to pull off, but if successful, it makes things a lot easier on the right side:

This is the solution I used as a kid. And yes, you are correct in that it is indeed possible to stop the athlete from dying to the lizard, but it's not easy at all. I remember I did it once, after several tries in adjusting the bomber position to achieve that.

@Simon The save requirement for Havoc 20 is 83%, not 85%, and 50/60 = 83%, so it is indeed lose at most 10.

Edit Simon: Right, changed to 83%.

Thanks! Changed the title again from 85% to 83%.

Thanks for all of the replies guys.
I did manage to get the timing right and save the LH athlete which gave me just enouigh bombers to break through on the right (after a few goes).

Re: the spoiler I did try it that way to begin with but found the bomber timing more difficult.

Pretty sure it is actually lose-12 in Win95 though...at the time I remember thinking "yep, another nerf from Amiga to PC".
(after adding 1 min to Mayhem 15 and doubling the skills/deathcount in Mayhem 26)
