Title: Lack of inspiration?
Post by: Adam on January 01, 2006, 11:04:21 PM
Has anyone else noticed over the past few months a lack of inspiration when it comes to level designing. I've got a load of levels which are incomplete and I can't seem to complete ANY of them. Any which I do complete are usually rubbish in the end.
If you've got tips for inspiration, please do tell me. Thanks for reading, Adam.

One tip I can give you is that when designing a level, you first need to think about which tricks you wish to include.
Some graphic sets are better for some tricks then others too.

Also think of a descent title and if possible, make the scenery and/or tricks to include fit with your title.
Best is to test your levels a few times over and over to eliminate backroutes, but also to see where the level looks blank and where you could put some more scenery.

To get inspiration, the best is to play a couple of levelpaks from various authors,to sniff up some ideas.
Off course don't copy levels and/or tricks from other authors blindly,at least give it your own twist and make it look differently ;)
