Title: Levels by Turrican
Post by: Turrican on March 29, 2020, 11:05:34 PM
Hi! Now that my second level for Neolemmix is ready I've decided to create this thread. I will not make any levelpack ( I will always post only single levels ) ,so everything I will make for Neolemmix will be in this thread . In this post I will post my second Neolemmix level , and in the following posts , I will put links for my first Neolemmix level and a "Lemmix to Neolemmix" conversion I have made in the past ( I have posted both in the "Random level sharing" topic ).

My second Neolemmix level is called "Shadows in the sky"

I have attached in this post both the level , and the replay of the solution of the level.

The music track for this level is "The moria labyrinth" by D Lusion .
Link fot the track : ( https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=80874 )

For the music track , create a folder , called "Turrican projects" in your music folder , and put the music track  inside that folder.

EDIT : Uploaded the version 1.04 of the level

In this post I will put the link for my first Neolemmix level ( Reachable Heights )

From the random level sharing topic :

"Hi! Currently I try to make a new level for Neolemmix (Shadows in the Sky ) , but it will take some time until it will be ready. So for now as a "stop-gap" , I've decided to modify my old level for Lemmix ( which was a glitch level ) , to a non-glitch level that can also work in Neolemmix . The level was called "Unreachable Heights" and it was non-bulder level that used a glitch , but also it used some non-glitch tricks too. So I made a modified version that uses these non-glitch tricks I mentioned . In order to do it, I added builders to the original level, removed the two climbers , reduced the amount of other skills a little, and upped the save requirement by 1 (and also , the level  has no time limit now).

The new level is called "Reachable Heights". I have also attached the replay of the solution of  the level."

Link for the music track: ( https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=85264 )

EDIT : For the music track , create a folder , called "Turrican projects" in your music folder , and put the music track  inside that folder.

In this post I will put a link for the "Lemmix to Neolemmix" level conversion , that I have posted ( "Bubble Bath" by Gronkling ) .

From the random level sharing topic :

"HI! I have posted here an older "Lemmix to Neolemmix" level conversion that I had done in the past ( from the Lemmix version of Revenge of the Lemmings v1 ). The level is "Bubble Bath" by Gronkling .

The music track I use for the level is "riding the waves" by Bassline . You can download it from it's page on Modarchive ( link: https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=85264 )

EDIT : For the music track , create a folder , called "Turrican projects" in your music folder , and put the music track  inside that folder.

I have also attached a replay of the solution of the level."

This is the Neolemmix version of my level "The Crystal Coves".

I have also attached the replay of the solution.

This is the solution I tried to do in SuperLemmini (after learning the same trick for Taxing 16's 100% solution) but I couldn't quite get the builder placements right. Now that I know this definitely is the solution, I'll give it another go.

Yeah, unfortunately this solution isn't possible in SuperLemmini. I've explained why here (https://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=943.msg81228#msg81228), and I'll let Tsyu know coz it's a fairly glaring difference in physics.

OK! Thank you again for trying the level!

And about Superlemmini: I am looking forward to a feature that Tsyu has said, he  is considering to implement ( the ability to resume from replays ) . If he will implement it , I will start playing , creating and testing levels in Superlemmini too.

And by the way , I also started playing Lemmings in Amiga too ( in 1992 if I remember correctly ) ( the two official versions I had were the Amiga  , and the PSP version much later , in 2012 ) . And as my nickname shows , I am a large Amiga ( and Turrican fan ).

SuperLemmini already does this: like with NeoLemmix, if you load a replay (or restart a level into replay mode), you can resume playing from any point. I think Tsyu was talking about having this feature unavailable as part of a "Classic/Difficult Mode" along with timed bombers, no framestepping, etc.

Here is my new level . It's called "The Space Outpost" . This is an attempt to create a very easy level ( with a difficulty similar to the early ranks of the official games ).

I have also attached the replay of the solution.

Hi. Just here to inform you that I may have found a backroute. Haven't look at the attached intended solution, but I'm quite sure this is not intended as many skills including the miner are left.

And yes , your solution is a backroute. I will try to upload an updated version of the level tomorrow.

I have uploaded the 1.02 version of the ''FC Lems screwed by the refs " level . Most of the skills that are needed in order to solve the level , are now pickup skills.

Played through the levels and I say they are all 100% community pack worthy. :)

I attached my solutions.

Some feedback:

Bubble Bath + Is There a Pilot in the Rocket _: I would remove the timers here as they provide nothing to the solution. Otherwise those classics are still fine. :)

FC Lems screwed by the refs + Shadows in the Sky: Excellent levels!  I only thing I would change here is giving them both 1 or 2 extra blocker+digger+basher. I don't think this will result in backroutes and it does not punish minimal different solutions that use a digger instead of a blocker somewhere. Especially as the levels can be a bit longer and users may have to redo the whole thing because of that (happened to me as well :P).

Reachable Heights: Very nice level again, but I have skills left over it could be a slight backroute.

The Crystal Coves + The Space Outpost: Nothing to complain here, these are nice levels. :)

Your solutions are intended , or acceptable alternatives!
"Reachable Heights" is a relatively "open ended" level in terms of it's solution. Your solution has only some small differences compared to the intended one, so it counts as intended too.
Also  your solution for "FC Lems screwed by the refs" is an acceptable alternative.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Also , about the changes you have suggested , I can implement them. I will upload (probably tomorrow) , updated versions of the levels , which will implement the changes , you have suggested. For  "FC Lems screwed by the refs" and "Shadows in the Sky" , how many extra blockers/diggers/bashers , would you suggest me to add?
Title: Re: Levels by Turrican

I have uploaded updated versions of the following levels :

Bubble Bath + Is There a Pilot in the Rocket (v 1.01 for both ) : Removed the time limit

Shadows in the Sky v1.01 : Added 2 extra blockers/bashers/diggers

FC Lems screwed by the refs v1.04 : Added 1 extra blocker/basher/digger as pickup skills
Title: Re: Levels by Turrican

I bump this thread, because I have uploaded updated versions of the following levels :

Shadows in the Sky v1.02 : Removed 1 blocker/basher/digger

FC Lems screwed by the refs v1.05 : Added four extra traps , and removed 1 blocker/basher/digger from the pickup skills

The reason is to make the solutions for both levels a little tighter! The solution for Shadows in the Sky is a little tighter now , but you will still have spare skills if you solve the level correctly! The middle part of the solution for  FC Lems screwed by the refs was open-ended previously , but now the intended route for the middle part of the solution is enforced! I also had to remove some skills , in order to have that route enforced!

In the previous post I had mentioned , that I had uploaded the version 1.05 of the "FC Lems screwed by the refs" level! The difference of that version , in comparison to the 1.04 version was that the middle part of the solution for  FC Lems screwed by the refs was open-ended in the 1.04 version , but in the 1.05 version , the intended route for the middle part of the solution was enforced!

After some thought , I decided that I like both versions ( the more open-ended 1.04 version , and the not so open-ended 1.05 version ) , so :

For the original "FC Lems screwed by the refs" level , I have reuploaded the 1.04 version. The 1.05 version , has become now a new level!

The name of the new level is "FC Lems screwed by the refs - VAR edition"

I have also uploaded the replay of the solution of the level.

Link for the music track for the level : ( https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=107789 )

For the music track , create a folder , called "Turrican projects" in your music folder , and put the music track  inside that folder.

EDIT : Uploaded the version 1.06 of the level. The replay for the 1.02 version , solves this version too.

I have uploaded updated versions for all my levels and level conversions , because I am changing the way music tracks are handled for my levels and my level conversions.

Previously the levels ,  just required you to put the music tracks in your music folder. Now that has changed.

Now you need to create a folder , called "Turrican projects" in your music folder , and put the music tracks inside that folder instead.

But I'm afraid I backrouted stargate level.

The stargate level looks really awesome, I was lagging so much playing the level with my old laptop though :crylaugh:

"Outside the Control Room" and "Lemmings Checkers Club" : Uploaded the versions 1.01 and 1.02 of these levels. The updated versions contain some very small changes on the layouts of the levels. The intended solutions , remain the same for both levels , but for "Lemmings Checkers Club" I had to upload replay of  the solution of the updated version , because the original replay don't work in the updated version , due to changes in the positions of the opening hatches.

For the music track , create a folder , called "Turrican projects" in your music folder , and put the music track  inside that folder.

NEW EDIT : I have upladed the version 1.02 of the level .  In order for this version to work , you need to unzip , and put in your Styles folder , the "turrican_special" tileset , that I have attached to this post . This tileset  , contains the pevious version of the steel pieces from the "Brevon's Lair" tileset ( which is one of the Freedom Planet tilesets ) . That tileset has been updated , and the look of these pieces , has changed a little on the latest version of that tileset , so I did put the older versions of these pieces , on the tileset , that I have uploaded here , in order to retain , the original look of the level.

Also , for the previous version of the level , I had uploaded this tileset with the name "mike_lemmings_special" , but I decided to change the name of the tileset to "turrican_special" , in order to submit it to the "styles updates" topic . And in that case , I needed also to update the level , in order to work with the renamed tileset. If you have already downloaded the "mike_lemmings_special" tileset , you can just rename it to "turrican_special" , so you won't need to download the style again.

Many thanks to Gigalem , for giving me permission , to use these pieces for this tileset !

EDIT 2 : Uploaded the version 1.03 of the level. It contains a small change , that makes the level solvable in the upcoming Neolemmix version (v.12.13.0) . It contains also , a small visual fix. The change is : +1 platformer , in one of the pick-ups. I have uploaded also the replay of the solution of the updated version of the level.

In this post I will put a link for the "Lemmix to Neolemmix" level conversion , that I have posted in the Random level sharing topic .

Here is the post , from the From the random level sharing topic :

This is a level that I had modified from the Lemmix version of Revenge of the Lemmings v1 , some years ago , and also , I had made a version of that , for Superlemmini . The level is "All that a Basher can Do" by Dodochacalo . The level was in the beta version , of the Lemmix version of RotL , but It was about to be replaced , because in order to be solved , it required a Lemmini-only glitch (unfortunately we never had a final version of RotL for Lemmix . It only remained in beta) .

My modifications here , is to make the level possible to be solved , without the use of that Lemmini-only glitch. It is a non-glitch level now , but also it's intended solution is close to the original one.

I have also attached the replay of the solution.

Link for the music track , that I use for the level : https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=108047

For the music track , create a folder , called "Turrican projects" in your music folder , and put the music track  inside that folder.
