Welcome to the Level of the Year 2017 voteoff!
So, most of you will know how this works, but just in case - and so that specifics are covered - here's a quick rundown.
The nominated levels have been divided into 9 groups of 10 or 9 levels, semi-randomly. To be specific, the division was done in such a way that a single author wouldn't have too many levels in a single group.
Each group will be voted on one at a time, with four levels from each group advancing to Phase 2 (which will run in a similar fashion). First we bring them down from 10/9 to 7 and then to 4.
Voting for each group will be open for three days. Remember, you're voting for the levels you think should win, not the ones you want to see eliminated.
If we get ties, there may be some tiebreakers to ensure only 4 levels out of each group advance to Phase 2. That says: 10/9 to 8 or 6 levels instead of 7 will be acceptable in the first rounds, but afterwards the 4 will be ensured by tiebreakers.

Please remember that discussing the nominated levels is not allowed in the LOTY2017 topics now that voting has begun. This does not apply to levels that have already been eliminated at the time. Discussing them elsewhere in the site is okay, as long as it's not in the context of LOTY2017.

Regarding "GigaLem's "Sash Flopsy vs Lord Namida" (Millas demo v2.8 - Super Dog 6)": The level works as intended!
Old format NL seems to have a display bug in the true physics mode here. Teleporter D does not teleport to teleporter C's receiver as it is displayed there, but transports correctly to the top level. Tested it myself with the help of a replay by GigaLem.

The first post says we're trying to bring each group down to 4. "Star Light Rollercoaster" is not crossed out on the list and is not in the poll. Did you mean to include it and ask for 4 out of 5?

"Star Light Rollercoaster" had 4 votes, while the 4 levels that are now in the tiebreaker had only 3. The ones with 2 and 1 votes got eliminated.

That makes 4 levels that advance: "Star Light Rollercoaster" and 3 out of the 4 levels currently in the voting.

Well, we have another 3 way tie here for only 2 possible places in the next phase.
"Star Light Rollercoaster" and "Ten Story Stories and Tall Tales" already made it, but the remaining 3 levels need to fight once again for the last 2 spots. ;)

To be honest, I'd suggest just letting all 5 slip through at this point, rather than continually drawing out an early round with tiebreakers.

"drawing out" doesn't really matter as normal contests still continue in contrast to the older LOTY votings -- so it doesn't hold anything back like in recent years.
Also if we got a very big tie, then one group gets too many survivors, making the survival rate unfair in comparison to the other groups. Here it's just a small shift, but I want to be consistant and handle the groups equally. If we get a full on tie between the remaining tiebreaker candidates I will resort to letting them all through.
I want to keep that survival ratio as fair as possible. I would take a few tiebreaker rounds and a longer voting phase over unfair survival rates.
For next year's LOTY I already plan to further limit the nominations a person gets, due to the exponential increase in nominations we got this year. This should counteract the length for the next year. :)
