Title: We all fall down
Post by: grams88 on July 13, 2017, 10:01:01 PM
I'm thinking maybe someone else has mentioned this in the past. I managed to complete the we all fall down Mayhem one with just three or two digs. Has anyone else mentioned this before?

Yes, it's come up when we were looking through all the levels for which skills are absolutely necessary to complete each level (http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=1084.0). Now, our records say 9 diggers, but that's assuming DOS version, which lets a digger continue if it can see any terrain at all, so you can't release one digger with another in a way that makes a step. Other versions do allow this -- I know the Mac, Genesis and SNES versions do, and I think Amiga as well.

the record for this level is using 0 diggers, 0 skills

[because in first Windows version there's a glitch and the lemmings don't die from the ledge; they walk straight to the exit] :P :P

That is strange the whole not using any skills, must of been the height distance thing in different versions or ports. I remember being on the team17 forum and someone was mentioning about the oh no more lemmings level (This Corrison) where they let the lemmings just walk off and fall to their death but instead of death the lemmings went yippee, must of been a hidden exit thing going on.

As mobius stated, the first Windows release of Lemmings had a higher splat height.  I remember this because that version of lemmings was my introduction to the game.  Specifically, that version had the splat height set three pixels more than standard: 66 pixels instead of 63 pixels.  That made We All Fall Down completely trivial.  I initially thought that was intended and that those four levels were 'intermissions' from the gameplay.
