Title: New Lemmings game?
Post by: Flopsy on July 07, 2017, 01:11:27 AM
Does anyone think we're overdue for another Lemmings game from Sony?

It's been 3 years since Lemmings Touch came out on the Vita now, and that has been a PS Plus game in the last year.

I felt they actually got the graphics right in Lemmings Touch, the Lemmings actually looked really good on that rather than the PSP ones which had limbs separated from their bodies.

I feel that the PS4 is ripe for a new Lemmings game to come out, I don't expect it to be anything spectacular but it would be nice to keep the franchise alive at least and not let it fizzle out slowly.
The PS3 Lemmings came out in 2007 which was not long into the PS3 cycle and Touch came out not long into the Vita cycle either.
I don't think we'll see a sequel to Touch since Sony seems to have washed their hands of the PS Vita now.

If anything everytime a new Lemmings game comes out, it could get people suddenly interested in the game again and it could mean new members flocking to this forum.

Sony has been sitting on Oh No More Lemmings and not even done anything with those levels, not that I'd want a remake if it's going to be anything like the PSP remake of the Original game.

I have no idea if Lemmings has been selling well on the PSP/PS2/PS3/Vita, it doesn't seem to be publicly viewable anywhere so I'm not sure if Sony would even want to waste anymore time making games with the license.

I'd be down for Sony making another Lemmings game provided it's done right like Lemmings or Lemmings 2.

Kind of related to this, I'm actually considering making a Lemmings-type game as my final college project and releasing it on Steam if its any good. It would be cool to have a lemmings-like game where you can create levels in the game and upload them to a server like Mario Maker as well as exploring new skills and objects.

I'd be glad to see anything, just to prove they haven't given up entirely.
Though as usual I just hope it's something that actually is an improvement upon the old structure (the likes of which we've done here at the forum with Lix and NL (something I think we earned and is certainty doable) and by that I mostly mean not complete with stupid gimmicks like the darkness in PS3 Lemmings.

that's really cool Arty! I hope it goes well!

I wouldn't mind seeing another title for PS4, Lemmings is due for an appearance on that console since had one on the vita plus, The level variety needs to be larger
(Really Easy Medium and Hard? that so generic)

Lemmings needs more appreciation in the world

I'd love to see Lemmings-type gameplay on the PS4, but because we're in 2017 it's very unlikely now that it's going to feature lemmings. I think it's more likely to feature more popular large groups of characters like Minions.

For some reason I feel thet Sony would only make a new Lemmings game to test a new platform or a mechanic they have made. I don't think they would make a new Lemmings game just for the sake of it, maybe the sales wouldn't be high enough? :-\
