Title: Multiplayer session on 2016-11-06
Post by: mobius on November 04, 2016, 02:49:24 AM
Now that there are quite a few new people here who weren't around back when me, Proxima, Simon, geoo and ISteve and others played MP Lix, I'm curious if there's much interest in playing again.

Use this thread to schedule a time to play in advance. I'd also like to try a voice chat, though I'm not always able to do this.

There's multiplayer in C++ Lix, but I don't have a server running. If you find enough people to agree on a time, I can host the old server on lixgame.com. C++ Lix doesn't like recording software.

Multiplayer in D Lix isn't done yet. :lix-blush:

I have made good progress on the networking lobby. You can connect to the server, chat, switch rooms, and choose colors. But nothing will happen when you declare ready to play. I'll announce when we can test something meaty. :lix-smile:

asdfasdf is still running a C++ Lix server. :lem-shocked: I can't ssh into that machine anymore, but it's still running somewhere, and the C++ Lix daemon autostarted as good as ever. We can play there. This is perfect, because C++ Lix connects to asdfasdf per default. You don't have to change anything.

I propose Sunday, 2016-11-06 at 20:00 UTC. This is 21:00 in Germany, 12:00 in Vancouver, and 12, 13, 14, or 15 for mobius, I don't know where he lives within the USA.

How to play

1. Have C++ Lix 2015-09-01 or newer. Download C++ Lix for Windows (http://lixgame.com).
2. At the time proposed above, run Lix, click Networked Game, connect to the central server (asdfasdf.ethz.ch).
3. Optional: Sit in IRC, quakenet.org #lix. But you can chat in the game, too.

Everybody's invited!

Tomorrow at noon... Sounds good to me! :3

Haha I'm shocked asdf is still running Lix :lix-tongue:

Daylight's savings ends (starts?) tomorrow morning in Canada. I'll try to figure it out.

I'm on the East coast, Eastern time so yeah it's like afternoon for me. Daylight's savings ends here in U.S. I'll just wait around in chat for people to show up.

As my entire weekend got royally screwed up for various reasons, can't say now that I'll make it but I'll try to see if anyone new wants to play.

I'll be in this session too. Daylight saving time's already ended in the UK.
Heck. I might even create some levels. There are some Lemmings Plus levels that I think would look interesting for multiplayer, an example being Mild 3's "Heading on in"
