I'd consider darkening the background color. That aside, it seems very nice! :)

It looks very nice , but I would stay with the classic black as a background color as this blue makes the terrain somewhat hard to recognise especially the rough tiles.

EDIT: Maybe not black as well as I see some really dark edges aswell. Would have to think here. Best to try different things and see which makes everything visible + good looking.

Just breathtaking... :D

Yes, your tiles look great!

Regarding darker background (as suggested by namida and IchoTolot): There are some black pixels around some of the terrain pieces. Are they solid? If so, then I would read the previous suggestions as "Definitely make the background lighter".
The L2-Shadow tileset has mostly rectangular and triangular blocks of known size. So the player can guess which pixels should be solid, even if they don't really see them. Your terrain pieces are much more irregularly shaped, so a higher contrast to the background is much more needed here.

Ah, good point Nepster.

The black pixels around the terrain are solid. I'll play with the colors a bit to see if I can make it better.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Glad you like the work-in-progress.

 I like it.

imo, I would make the tile's lighter and the background darker, but I've always preferred the black background (or a background graphic that is very dark, subtle and does not at all distract from the terrain.

On the other hand I've never seen darker tiles against a lighter background so it might be interesting.

The background of the L2 shadow tileset does exactly this.

oh you're right, and now that I remember it; I don't like it at all :P
[I never liked the shadow tribe graphics in L2]

Changed the coloring a bit. Black background, lighter terrain. Also added wisp and blue fire traps.

It's certainly an improvement on the original low-contrast version, but for my tastes, you've gone too far in the other direction, and a dark blue background would suit the terrain much better.

For me it would be fine now actually, as you can clearly see the edges. :)

Very nice work!
What's the painting software you use? (I like ProMotion for making 2D gfx.)

I just released the full pack if you want to mess around with it. I updated the original post with the download link.

Proxima, I just changed the background color again. Now it's very dark blue instead of straight up black. Now I think it complements the terrain while not being too bright. Let me know what you think.

Thanks LJLPM  I used Photoshop for most of this project, although I usually use Graphics Gale for 2D stuff. Maybe I'll check out ProMotion, I don't think I've ever heard of that one.

Right now I just have the Super Lemmini download, but I'll probably release a NeoLemmix version tomorrow. I don't have time to do it today.

For NeoLemmix, if you want to use custom background colors, you'll need to use the experimental version of GSTool. Even then, the background color will only show up on the experimental player version. (The stable version simply does not support custom backgrounds in any way; some people have come up with a workaround of making a very large object to act as the background, but this leads to performance issues.) With that being said, I don't expect it'll be that much longer before the experimental version becomes stable.

I just added the NeoLemmix version in the original post. I think I'll worry about the background color when the experimental features come to the full release. For now, it can just be black. Also, I mistakenly labeled terrain number 49 as steel, which is wrong. It's fixed now in v1.1.

This is an EXCELLENT tileset!

How did you manage to draw all those?

However, with the new NeoLemmix v1.47 update, the trigger area of the exit has gone off by a lot of pixels (as seen in the picture below), and the lemmings are no longer able to exit. You may need to fix up the trigger areas of all the objects.

Also, you should change the sound of the freeze trap as it is playing the same sound as the wheel trap from the Brick set (in NeoLemmix, not sure if it sounds different in SuperLemmini).

Just to be sure - did you check this in-game? (Since that screenshot seems to be from the editor.)

The editor, especially the experimental version, isn't always 100% reliable when it comes to this. You can see the actual area, rather than just relying on trial-and-error, by using Clear Physics Mode in V1.47n-B or V1.47n-C.

Yep, I checked it in game, the lemming walks past the exit, and the trigger area is off.

Even when opening it straight from the NeoLemmix.EXE, the problem still occurs.

Do you have any plans on extracting/working on your contest style to make it a ordinary style with mutiple pieces (instead of being in one bitmap piece)? I also really like that style and would like to use it.

Do you have any problems if I do this myself? Note: I would consider it if you're not but I'm not planning to, this would be a decent amount of work.

Mobius, I think that's a good idea. I was planning on making another tileset, but didn't know what to do, I think I'll do this. That contest set is based on a game I've been making, and there's a lot more graphics from the game that I could add to the lemmings tileset which aren't in the contest level.

About the exit trigger and the sounds, I'll get to work on that. I've been preoccupied with another project.

Fixed the exit issue in version 1.2. The download link's been updated in the main post.

About the sound issue, I'm not sure how to fix this. ???

In the GS Tool, the freeze trap is set to play the fire trap noise, which I think is the one I want. That should be the same sound as the fire pit on the fire levels, right? Although, when I play the level, it sounds like a crank, kinda like the wheel from the brick levels as Wafflem said.

Just posted a link to Nepster's conversion of my set to the new NeoLemmix graphics format. Thanks Nepster!
