Title: Lemmings Forums Level Contest #11 - Playing Phase (Update Topic)
Post by: namida on August 23, 2016, 03:38:05 AM
Note: This topic is ONLY for posting updates to your levels, or making late submissions. All other posts will be deleted. If you want to discuss the levels, post replays, etc, please do so in the Discussion Topic (http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2859.0).

Please follow these rules for updates:
1. When posting a new updated version of a level, remove any old updated versions of that level. (I won't enforce this too strongly, but be aware that I probably will delete such posts myself if the author doesn't; so don't store any important information in them.)
2. Make a new post for a new update; do not edit your most recent post. You may, however, post updates to multiple entries (if you have more than one) in the same post.
3. Use the same filename as found in the ZIP of the entered levels, with "V2" "V3" etc added at the end. No matter how minor an update is, give it a new number.
4. Do not post in this topic, unless it's to post an update to your levels. Use the discussion topic instead for anything else.

For late submissions also, please use the same kind of filename as is used in the main levels download - ie: your username, and "R1" "R2" or "R3" to mark which rule the level is for. Remember that the maximum-of-two-levels-per-user rule still applies, even for late submissions. Please be sure to check the original contest announcement topic (http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2837.0) for the rules; as the notes in the discussion topic are simply meant as reminders, not full explanations of the rules.

Updates to both of my levels thanks to Crane's solutions. I simply required an extra lemming to be saved on my Rule 2 level and severely restricted the skills in Rule 3 to accommodate Crane's new efficient ways through the level. Many thanks!

Edited by namida: Removed the Rule 3 level attachment since a newer version was posted.

Backroute fixes for both of my levels. In particular, for the compession level I tried to make clear that a random flingfest a la Icho's solution is not the way to go.

Edited by namida: Removed download of Rule 3 level as a newer version has been posted.

Updated R3 to V2 now to block Crane's backroute!

- Added a fire pit to the left to prevent backtracking and therefore spreding out the Lemmings.

- Increased lem count to 60.

Addressing Icho's second solution to my compression level.
The solution is still simpler than that.

Made the route shorter for the climber to prevent Nepsters route. Never really used stackers before so I didn't know about this trick at the time.

Flying Squirrels V2. Fix backroute found by Nepster. Remove unwelcome red herring: The gap below the central obstacle is higher now.

geoo, Icho, Arty: Your solutions remain good in V2, you don't have to play again.

New versions of "The Wishing Well" and "Heaven and Earth" now available.

- Hopefully all backroutes fixed in "The Wishing Well" now, including a couple that I found myself.
- Removed that mistakenly-added steel plate in "Heaven and Earth", and tried something different with the aesthetics in a couple of places.  Let me know if it looks nice or not (the level now uses every trap at least once!).

"The Wishing Well" updated to V13 - see below

One (hopefully) final update to Hailfire Peaks. I added a single small stalagmite to make it obvious lemmings can survive the fall past the ice blower. It previously (unbeknownst to me) was JUST enough that the lemmings would survive.

Here's my third reversion. The level is the same, but the style has been tweaked. The background's darker and the terrain is lighter in select places.

All updates up to this post have now been included in the NXP / ZIP, and all old versions have been removed (as have their posts, unless they also contained an update to another level).

Minim's backroute I don't know how to patch without redesigning the level because of the timings available with the two lemmings, and the leftover skills available.  Oh well.  V16!
