Title: [NeoLemmix] Updates of Lemmix Packs to NeoLemmix
Post by: Nepster on February 12, 2016, 08:16:47 PM
Lemmix packs for NeoLemmix

As mentioned here (http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2443.0), Wafflem and myself converted the old Lemmix levels in the database to NeoLemmix. The updated level packs can be found here:

  https://www.dropbox.com/s/p6ddekfv6otjzm0/Lemmix%20Packs.zip?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/p6ddekfv6otjzm0/Lemmix%20Packs.zip?dl=0) (42MB)

and without the music here:

  https://www.dropbox.com/s/5x2tu6e6zjm10sw/Lemmix%20Packs_NoMusic.zip?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/5x2tu6e6zjm10sw/Lemmix%20Packs_NoMusic.zip?dl=0) (3,5MB)

For details on the changes made to the levels, please read the Readme.txt that comes with every NeoLemmix pack. They are intended for the player version V10.13.16 or later.
Warning: Several level packs were only checked for solvability in NeoLemmix V1.43. Since then several changes were made to the game physics. So I cannot guarantee that all levels are still solvable, though most likely they are.

Packs available for NeoLemmix:

For the following levels I do not have NeoLemmix solutions, even though they might be solvable. They are included in the level packs above in the last rank named "Undecided":

Finally there are some Lemmix packs that will not be converted to NeoLemmix:

Added the levels of Anthony Thompson, bulletride, -H0ru5- and tseug.
Title: Re: Updates of Lemmix Packs to NeoLemmix - Release Thread
Post by: Nepster on February 25, 2016, 08:18:39 PM
Added the levels of Caleb Thiessen and DragonsLover.

Updated the existing level packs such that the levels
- do not rely on solid edges (though some still rely on a solid ceiling),
- do not rely on direct drops to the exit,
- do not rely on building stairs within terrain.
I might have missed one or two such levels though. So please report them, if you find such a level.

Added about 200 new levels by Adders, Christóbal Márquez & Alfonso Celis and Dullstar.

Do you mean that these levels may work in old Lemmix, but you can't solve them in NeoLemmix? Or just that you don't have solutinos for them at all?

In any case; I have two solutions for The Silent Circus; first one is the intended solution which was always difficult to achieve, and not sure if it's possible on NeoLemmix. This was featured on his youtube channel.
The second however, is an incredible solution by geoo, and is probably very possible on NeoLemmix.
---note--- these replays are for old Lemmix.

For Fall Guy -- I can't remember why but I have a feeling the intended solution to that level relied on no glitches. It was a contest level for Lemmings heaven. But the only solutions I've seen for it [by other people not BulletRide] were glitchy. I did hunting on youtube long ago but couldn't find the intended solution.

Thanks for the further info on Fall Guy and the two solutions for Silent Circus. Unfortunately both fail in NeoLemmix, because the first builder turns around after the first brick. So it seems, that Silent Circus is indeed impossible under NeoLemmix mechanics.

Part so, part so. I have Lemmix solutions to Silent Circus and Fortress 13, but not to Fall Guy. In all three cases I neither know NeoLemmix solutions, nor have convincing arguments why such NeoLemmix solutions cannot exist.

In Dullstar's dstar01 Level 3 "Pillars in Space!", it should use the Bubble style, not the Pillar style.

Though I'm not sure if Dullstar intended it to be this way.

In Dullstar's dstar01 Level 3 "Pillars in Space!", it should use the Bubble style, not the Pillar style.
The bubble style level is "Attack of the Killer Toddlers" (rank 2, level 1), though this is not completely obvious, because I have removed lots of the decoration on both sides. As far as I can remember, "Pillars in Space!" was meant as a WTF-level, making fun of all the other levels one got by choosing the wrong game mechanics in Lemmix (or by having a different style order in CustLemm).

I'm curious; have you approved "Final Call" by BulletRide? [with the intended solution or a new solution? I remember that the intended solution:

I need to check these out very soon. I have not even heard of until now; - Christóbal Márquez and Alfonso Celis' levels (148 levels) and 68 levels by Anthony Thompson!

This trick, which does not work in NeoLemmix, the precisely the reason why this level was removed from the NeoLemmix pack. I am fairly sure that RR-fiddling does not allow enough crowd control to solve the level without this trick.

I need to check these out very soon. I have not even heard of until now; - Christóbal Márquez and Alfonso Celis' levels (148 levels) and 68 levels by Anthony Thompson!
I am fairly sure, you already know about the CHRISFN and anthpck level packs, but this shouldn't stop you to check them out. :)

Anyway, I updated bulletride's levels (removed Silent Circus and Fall Guy) and added the levels by Eymerich/Ellischant, doggycharly, Janne Vieri and Jeffrey Lancaster.

For Creatures of the deep in doggycharly's pack, it uses the BeastI VGASpec.

For Creatures of the deep in doggycharly's pack, it uses the BeastI VGASpec.
Thanks a lot. Unfortunately that is only half of the problem with this level: I still get an error that some extended graphic set (=VGASpec?) is missing and the level does not load at all. So I cannot even add the VGASpec back in at a later point.

If you can point me in the direction of the level, I'll see what I can do in regards to getting it working (and, if possible, fixing the bug that's making it not at least load in the editor).

I have attached the level pack. It is the second level in there.

When I tried to load it up, rather than BeastI (or an error), it had the Covox VGASPEC. Weird.

Anyway, I'll look into the cause of this later, but for now, here's a fixed version in NeoLemmix LVL format. No other changes have been made.

There's one level by JM not in the pack: The Unidentified Territory, which is a custom VGASPEC level.

I gave the fishthekiller99/Lemmy556 packs some fitting custom music aswell ;P

It still amazes me where we used to be and where we stand now.

Probs to Nepster for playing through ALL of this. Sometimes it is a really hard job (99 builders *cough*). Between all the great classic levels, there is also a lot of very... let's call it "special" stuff in the archives.

Agreed, that was a LOT of hard work you put in these levels!

I noticed that one of the musics in the fishkiller99/Lemmy556 also comes from Lemmings Reunion! (the one you first hear in I'mTooYoungToDie 8 "Your Turn!") :P

Here are some more packs by Lemeri. At the time I uploaded them back in 2014, I didn't know who they belonged to, so I marked them as Unknown; extensive research shows that these packs also belong to Lemeri. I also found that "levelpack3" is the same as "bigqtwo" so I replaced "levelpack3" with "bigqtwo"

I wish I had access to my old Windows 98 computer which is in another home; that's where all of Joe Sentinel's packs are (along with some other packs I may have downloaded back when Geocities and older forums like Lemmings Universe were still alive). Hopefully, that computer still works. In 2014, I retrieved the Joe Sentinel packs from an old, old, old version of the Garjen website through Archive.org, but sadly could not retrieve joem4.dat as the link did not work.

Is there a Neolemmix version of Fall Guy out there that I can try to solve? I don't believe the solution relied on any glitches I remember the rough Idea of how to solve it.

Attached Fally Guy as a single level, that can be loaded by the NeoLemmix Player.

If you don't want that your levels are available as a NeoLemmix level pack, then just tell me and I will delete the .nxp. Similarly if you don't like how I updated one level or another, or if you want any other change applied, please tell me. I can also send you the collection of single levels I used to put the .nxp together, if you like.

Thank you I will try to remember how I beat it. Thanks for uploading my levels btw I appreciate the effort that was put in to make them playable! There are probably a few changes I would like to make mostly to the levels that were in Revenge of the Lemmings as I was watching 리지훈 beat my levels on youtube in ways I didn't intend.

Title: Re: Updates of Lemmix Packs to NeoLemmix - Release Thread
Post by: Nepster on April 07, 2016, 10:04:37 PM
Depending on the option settings, NeoLemmix may save successful tries automatically. Alternatively there is a hotkey for saving replays manually (the default is "U"), which can be pressed either while playing the level or on the result screen. The replay should the appear in the subdirectory "Replay" in your NeoLemmix folder.

Amazing solution!

To view replays, start the level and press "L" (unless you have configured your hotkeys in some other way) and select the replay file.

I believe this was probably the last level I ever created I remember spending ages on it to get it just right.  I figured this level was so large that it would end up having a million back-routes but somehow I managed to not mess it up

A bit late to the party, but...

In Dullstar's dstar01 Level 3 "Pillars in Space!", it should use the Bubble style, not the Pillar style.

Though I'm not sure if Dullstar intended it to be this way.

The Pillar style is in fact intended for that level (hence "Pillars" in Space).  I don't quite remember what possessed me to swap the style on Attack of the Killer Toddlers and make a level out of it, but I did.

Nepster: Thanks for converting my levels.  It was interesting to play through them again. I have most of the original level files lying around somewhere, but they're very, very disorganized.  Some of them are decent levels, so I might be able to improve on them a bit now.  Others...  kinda suck *cough cough Pillars in Space cough cough*.

I think some of my solutions were backroutes, but by this point I no longer remember what any of the originally intended solutions were :P

Here's a Lemmix fangame that can be converted: Deceit's Lemmings (http://deceit.tistory.com/entry/Deceits-Lemmings). Gronkling found this fangame while looking around Google, and I'm surprised that it hasn't been mentioned in the forums for a very long time. I think the last time he/she posted in this blog was 2013, and the very last post was this Lemmings game itself.

Lemmini levels can be loaded in the (Neo)Lemmix editor and then saved as NeoLemmix levels, so converting these leves is certainly possible. Unless they rely too much on the specific Lemmini mechanics, they should stay solvable as well.
It might become problematic, if your levels use custom(ized) tilesets though.

Yes, that is another level pack, that should be converted at some point.

If I'm not mistaken, the creator of that pack is / was a member here who's been active at least a bit on the new forums. I forget the username, though.

If you need help with understanding anything on that site, let me know. My Korean ability is far from perfect, but it's also far from non-existant too. :)

Thanks! I think the user you're referring to is ssam1221, who is also a Korean user, but his packs are very different from Deceit's. I could be wrong though.

@Nepster: Regarding doggycharly's pack, have you updated it yet? namida posted a fixed version (http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2493.msg56425#msg56425) of Creatures of the Deep. You can also update BulletRide's as well since he has the intended solution to Fall Guy.

I updated it quite some time ago, but forgot to upload the updated version :-[. Should be fixed now.

You can also update BulletRide's as well since he has the intended solution to Fall Guy.
BulletRide wanted to modify a few levels themselves and I am waiting for these updated levels. Personally I am not too keen on doing frequent small changes, because updating level packs and checking that nothing got garbled along the way always takes me about half an hour.

PS: I will try to upload the level packs you updated later today.

I checked the TOG pack and saw that Level 8 has an error - the trapdoor is still at splat height. I've PM'd you a corrected version.

Also, just a minor thing, but just want to mention that QBeez is also known as karmew32 (http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=943.msg54622#msg54622).

For level 0408 of ssam1221's pack, it uses the VGASPEC of Lemmings of Persia (not the same as Proxima's). It's in the Lemmix player created by namida (http://ssam1221.tistory.com/attachment/cfile30.uf@22308E44530F70A03411B6.zip).

@namida: Can you extract the level (and its VGASPEC) so it can be added to the update?

Another thing: for the ssam1221 pack you recently updated, you might also might want to redownload the ssam1221 pack you recently updated (the DOS version), because he added some new levels:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hsfs6hrK8Cs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YDbBmpTmj0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO0Pp4wimI0

Also, Wicked Level 16 "Escape from Nightmare" is actually  a Havoc level (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWK-wYwoL2Y).
Title: Re: Updates of Lemmix Packs to NeoLemmix - Release Thread

These three levels are precisely the three new levels I mentioned in the other update topic (http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2443.37).

Regarding "Escape from Nightmare": As it was the only Havoc level and Wicked 20 was missing, I did not think putting it in an extra rank was warranted.

Uploaded level packs by Team Hell Spawn (converted by Wafflem).

Insane Steve released some walkthroughs for his first six packs; I've downloaded them from the Garjen website and attached them here.

He also released a walkthrough for his tenth pack; unfortunately, the attachment seems to no longer be available (http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=945.msg31011#msg31011).

The guides for Timballisto's packs are not in the latest version. Also, I found a guide for Pack 2.

ISteve10 walkthrough attached. I think this is an old version where the solution to level 8 is missing, but namida played through a pack with that level in it here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3kdEDMx6vg&list=PLVWvcY0oGEFzbrg5vKOjbwvKEFFn3mCm9) and the solution he uses is intended.

Awesome! Thanks! :)

Have you ever written walkthroughs for ISteve07-09?

Here is an NXP of Proxima and möbius's challenge pack (http://lemmings-db.camanis.net/levelpack/ag1zfmxlbW1pbmdzLWRichELEglMZXZlbFBhY2sY-tIBDA/):

Proxima and möbius challenge pack

I've also sent a copy to Nepster so he can upload it to his Dropbox database.

Many thanks to Proxima and möbius for their assistance in converting this pack.  Proxima played through all the levels, suggested to move the exit in Turn Around and Despair (as the change in bomber mechanics caused the old version to no longer be solvable), and chose the musics for each levels.

I've played through the pack during the conversion but couldn't beat three of the levels. Video playthough (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlDMIC0cEHj3Ocr5oZanzxwkUriphMHnj)

I finally did this.

I updated all existing level packs to V10.13.16 and added the remaining unconverted Lemmix packs. Please see the first post for details.

Wafflem found and updated some more old levels from a lot of different people: Andi, Ben Conway, Fleech, Gaston Splatt, geoo, GM, Gui55, Insane Steve, insulfrog, Isu, Jazzem, JM, Leviathin, MCMarshy, Mindless, Mikau Schekzen, Minim, Mr. K, Pieuw, Proxima, ssam1221, timballisto and several community levels.

I added these levels to the existing packs and updated the download links in the first post of this thread.

Please could you remove my pack? The one level it contains is an outdated version of "Rhapsody in Blue", which has up-to-date versions in Revenge of the Lemmings and the Lix community set.

Sure, in a moment... Sorry we didn't ask you before. :-[

EDIT: Reupload of the modified zip files is finished now and the links of the first post updated again.

I have the joem4.dat file.
I have joem1.dat to joem9.dat downloaded from the old Garjen site.

Awesome! Thanks, minglw!! I just uploaded that to Mindless's Level Database!

I'll take care of converting that this weekend!
