Title: A language question
Post by: DragonsLover on September 24, 2004, 12:29:36 PM
Do you pronounce the word Flood: "Flod" or "Flood"? And for the word Blood? "Blod" or "Blood"?

Yeah, they're pronounced as they're spelt.

Yep, but why Flood is pronounced like Flood and Blood is pronounced like Blod if both are written with 2 o?

blood.  Pronounced bl, then an uh sound (oo equals uh.  Sometimes it equals the letter U without the "y" part, as in "food")

flood.  same as blood, but with fl in front.

Louise provided the simplest and best explaination by far. In fact, mine to DragonsLover (on MSN) was exactly the same, even though I hadn't read it. :P
