No!!! When Mr. K reinstalled the OS for me, we lost the Ubuntu partition!
How can I get it to work again (after all, it is backed up)?
This is important with the Programming Language thing, as I will need to test it in Linux to make sure it works under Linux, or at least under WINE.
Is the partition actually gone, or is GRUB just missing?
To check,...
- Click on the Start Menu
- Right click on My Computer
- Choose Manage
- Click on Disk Management
- Check if there is a partition that displays as if it is unused
If so, then GRUB was simply overwritten. There are guides all over the web on how to restore GRUB after a Windows XP installation.[/list]
He used Wubi. There is no partition.
We do have the disk image backed up, but I can't seem to make XP's bootloader load it again. I modified boot.ini back to how it used to be, and copied back wubildr.mbr, but no dice. I figure I just need to re-install Wubi and then copy the old disk image over.
Yeah, just told me that it wasn't a real partition. Did not know that before.
Ah yeah, Wubi. You will need to reinstall and copy the image. Easy as pie.
