I made some Multiplayer Levels 2p 3p 4p and 5p Hope you like It.
Thanks!
Usually, going down is easier than going up. The players with hatches at the top are at an advantage. Are you okay with such an imbalance? It's your choice.
I recommend a darker background. The medium blue background clashes with the moons and with blue lix. I think a dark blue will go well with the moons.
In 5-player Sunny Day at the Beach, player E has to go to a hidden exit. Please make all the exits clearly visible. Also, player E has by far the easiest route: His exit is immediately near his hatch. Maybe enlarge the island in the sky with 5 players, to make everything less cramped?
I'll be happy to merge Sunny Day at the Beach if you address these concerns.
-- Simon
I understand that and will try my best. I can't change the routes, but I will make all the exits visible.
And also what would be background color code? I Cant find any Good codes...
A safe background color is: 0 red, 0x10 green, 0x40 or 0x50 blue. It's pretty dark, but everything will be clear.
Right, if you accept the imbalance and want to keep the routes as they are, that's okay. If you want to help the low-starting players a little against attacks from above, you can put steel below their hatches.
Thanks for making all exits clearly visible!

Thanks I Think Thats Fixed
All right! Would you like me to put these levels in the next Lix release?
We have a few authors now who have only built one level per player count. I'll make a directory "other" for them. I'll put your 4 maps into the release here:
levels/network/2p/other/sunnydayatbeach2p.txt
levels/network/3p/other/sunnydayatbeach3p.txt
levels/network/4p/other/sunnydayatbeach4p.txt
levels/network/5p/other/sunnydayatbeach5p.txt

Yeah you can do that
Hi, I made another map, this time in 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, 5-player, 6-player, 7-player, and 8-player formats. I hope you like it.
Hi! I don't think Cage Rescue is ready for merging yet.
The biggest problem is the long and boring work in the cage. To release your crowd, you'll have to release all crowds with you. This encourages to let others do 100 % of the work in the big cage and save your builders.
There is also an imbalance with the exit positions because there are only two small holes to leave the cage. When your exit is under the middle of the steel cage, it's much harder to reach it. Maybe give everybody two exits, an easy one and a harder one? Or think of more ways to leave the cage. Or arrange the existing exits in other ways than a long row at the bottom. There are many possibilities to make the hard exits easier to reach.
When you only have a hard exit, it's extra bad on Cage Rescue because the map forces you to reach your exit it while you're releasing everybody else. If this is what the map should be about, make the cage shorter vertically, so we get to get to the interesting part of the match much sooner.
It's unnecessarily hard for the crowd to squeeze through the holes at the top. Beginners' builders will cancel near the top. Consider removing the entire ceiling of the cage.
Decorate the level! It needn't become art, but at least put a few more terrain pieces than only the plain steel rectangles.

Tried to translate Simon's points into German. Simon is free to correct to fit his intentions.
Übersetzung von Simons Kommentar:
[Hi!
Danke :lix-wink:
is this better?
Now it's like Selective Rescue, except that it's imbalanced and longer.
You've removed the cage, which certainly had its problems (walls too high, nasty squeeze at the top), but it was the unique feature of your level.
What's the fundamental idea of your level? Why should we play it instead of, e.g., Selective Rescue, or Rescue Ranger Trolls? Is it the cage where you free at least one other team whenever you free yours? Example: For 5 players, you might put 5 cages, one for players A and B, one for players B and C, one for players C and D, one for players D and E, and the last one for players E and A. That would be something new that sets your map apart. And you can make such a map completely balanced, by placing the exits accordingly.
But it can also be something else, anything you like. You get to decide! Find an idea and let it be your inner light during map design.

My idea was to separate the players and I wanted to have small boxes like in selective rescue but I couldn't manage it with the box so I stuck with the idea and went with this.
I didn't want it to be like selective rescue and to be honest I forgot what my plan was when I reworked it :lix-mystery:

long time no see today i will publish the long awaited christmas level!
i will respond to mistakes
important! although this level has three players it is not compatible
with 7 or 5 players correct me if i am wrong
The best way to show this is if you send the fixed level
Oh i also have some prototyps!
Thanks! I'll look at these maps within 1-2 days.

Simon could you when your finished with the looking at the maps explain to me why it is or isn´t available to do 5 and 7p
Versions?
Ah, I see what you're trying to do with 5 (or 7) players:
- 2 (or 3) left players who all share one exit,
- 2 (or 3) right players who all share another exit,
- 1 central player that has a third exit for himself.
That's not possible in Lix. The reason is that Lix removes exits (and entrance hatches) until either the player count divides the number of exits, or the number of exits divides the player count. With 3 exits and 5 (or 7) players, Lix will remove exits until there is only 1 exit left.
It's a strange game rule; I invented it to make any map playable (however stupid) with any player count. The sharing of exits is an awkward game rule, too. It would be better if the level format allowed you to assign exits to players directly, but for now, you have to rely on the automatic assignment (after exits get removed to fit the player count). Unsure what I want to do about this in the future.
For the 3-player map: Please make the exit visible! E.g., add a new terrain piece, set it to dark mode (= eraser mode), and cover the exit with that to make a hole.
Background colors/prototypes: Pick any background color you like, but please make it nice on the eyes. Avoid bright red or bright blue. The mid-green from the non-prototypes is the best. If you don't like the mid-green, try a matte dark blue, or a dark purple.
You've published Sunny Day at the Beach as "Blitz", and now you're publishing Fight over a Candy Cane as "Tom wolf". Do you rather want a single author name for all of your maps?
-- Simon
Yeah i will make the exit visible and i would like to name me Blitz because i started with this name and i would Not be able to find my own levels with two names
That Sould Be it
fixes:
-Exit Visble
-More Lixes With That comes More Skills
-Background change in the prototyps
Hello today I am writing on
And I have something for the map Happy first day I finally managed to make the 5 and 7P versions it's not like the old map or new as you want to call it it's a mix of the old concept but there are no more teams and it's all against all I'm not sure yet if the design is good and wanted to ask you if it's that good or what's ugly or not fitting on the gameplay or design let me know.
And simon if you read this i have a question what would be the fastest to make lix level changes you or me because i'm not happy with 150 lixes and would set it to 100 because i see flopsy's complaint and i agree it's too many it takes too long and doesn't fit so would you be faster or i can do it but i only have access to one file per and I don't know about you I know programming is very fast and I'm just learning how lix code works and I already manage to change lix colours and actions in replays let me know what would be the fastest and a happy Christmas Eve to all of you or heilig abend here and when i dont write this year i wish you a happy new year.

Asymmetric maps are hard to eyeball. We should playtest it with exactly 5 or 7 players.
I'll merge your updates as they are now. If you want to change them again after playtesting, I'll merge future updates again.
Quote from: Blitz on December 24, 2024, 10:03:48 AMnot happy with 150 lixes and would set it to 100
would you be faster
I'll do it this time.
I'll merge your updates to
Happy First Day. This will replace the old 5- and 7-player versions with your updated versions. Then I'll change all your
Happy First Day (for all player counts, including 5 and 7) from 150 lix to 100 lix.

Yes, it makes sense to learn how to do this yourself.
You need tooling to mass-replace text across many files. I assume you're on Windows. Please make a new topic for this! You'll get help from Windows users. I'm sure there are several good ways to mass-replace text on Windows, but I don't know them.
On Linux, I write command lines around
find,
ack,
sed for mass-replacing text.

1. Before you do this, put all the levels you want to change in a folder, and make a backup somewhere
2. Download Notepad++ https://notepad-plus-plus.org/
3. Run it
4. Click "File"
5. Click "Open Folder as Workspace"
6. Select the folder with all the levels you want to change
7. Right click on the red folder icon at the left
8. Click "Find in files..."
9. Replace the contents of the "Find what:" box with "#INITIAL 150"
10. Replace the contents of the "Replace with:" box with "#INITIAL 100"
11. Click "Replace in files" and then "Ok"
Simon yes I understand that the game test is necessary it is such a thing that you can not see or feel yourself it has to be done by several to know if it is really good.
Silken I understand what you mean it makes sense that Windows would do that. Notepad++ is interesting because the text editor can also but not load a folder but it would make sense if the editor could because it can also have several tabs but it does not. Thank you, that will make a lot easier, especially for text data like lix
