Title: [Suggestion] Title Screen & Level Preview Music
Post by: Yung Gotenks on December 27, 2017, 10:58:10 PM
Just like the Sam Coupe and SNES versions of Lemmings, can we have Title Screen & Level Preview Music for NeoLemmix?
Here's how it would work in my eyes:

By default, there is no title screen or pre level music that comes with NL, but with the Pack Toolkit, you can toggle and choose title screen and pre level music for custom packs.
I know that if this were to actually happen, the fact that you can add custom title screen and level preview music needs to be obvious to players, I don't know how to remedy this.

So, what do you guys think? ???

I definitely support the idea. I never really liked the silent menu. :P

Although I couldn't care less for menu music myself, I can see the merit in this suggestion. But we will handle this in the same way as any other suggestion regarding music/sound:
1) Someone suggests a music track for the main menu and posts it here.
2) The community approves of this music track.
3) Everyone waits until I get around adding menu music using this track.

PS: At the moment I will not implement customizable menu music on a per-pack basis, because there are a lot of other much more important features missing at the moment. If you want this, please suggest it next Christmas again. ;)

Completely fair, there are far more important things to do at the moment. Nevertheless I'm still going to suggest a music for the menu: The title theme of SNES Lemmings.

I would suggest a menu music on/off slider in the options as maybe some folks want to turn it off. But this sounds like a neat idea overall!

We should take our time choosing the right track as this is the first track new users hear then.

Here's the title screen theme for the Sam Coupe version of Lemmings. What about this?
I like it.

I like this one too.

It's fine if we select a default song to play; but I think this should be a track/song that's customizable for the player; like all the other music.

I'm suprised people are all in on the idea, I was expecting the opposite.
Those if this happens more polish for FPXLemmings

Nepster: Implementing it as creator-selectable per-pack should be pretty simple, really? Assuming they haven't been culled yet, you could probably just follow the example of how custom post-level jingles work.

However, overall, I'm going to guess that this will ultimately fall into the same fate as the post-level jingles - it'll be seen as a fun feature at first, a few packs might even have custom ones, but eventually it will get to the point where the default option for them is "Off". Or, the feature gets culled altogether. (Although in this case, since all that's being culled is a cosmetic feature, it's not such a huge deal.)

Yes, I certainly know how to implement custom menu music, but it is just simpler to implement a fixed music, especially as the pack toolkit has to support this as well.

You might be right, but I still see two differences:
1) A lot more games have menu music than success/failure jingles. So this seems to be a better-liked feature over-all.
2) I will only implement a menu music that a huge majority of forumers do like. On the other hand I personally don't like the sound of the success/failure jingles. But of course this is only my own opinion and I don't know the opinion of others on them, so this argument has no statistic validation at all.
