Last night I watched Vanilla Sky - BRILLIANT! This film has everything; drama, romance, mystery, action, horror, sci-fi, and all weaved so seamlessly into the story. Whatever your taste in films, you will likely enjoy it. I wrote a review of it and sent it to IMDB today. I'll post a link to it when they upload it.

Now that I think about it, I haven't actually saw many films recently... probably the most recent was Hannibal at a friend's, which was a pretty good movie, if a tad weird.

Went to the movies with my girlfriend on Friday... saw Mean Girls... it totally frucking ruled!
If you're gonna see a movie, you gotta see "Mean Girls".

Anyhow, the last movie I watched was Buckaroo Banzai again. I'm getting the urge to watch Battlestar Galactica, but I can't, because we don't have it. I don't even know why I want to watch it right now O_o

One thing I've really wanted to see is the original Alien - apparently it's one of the scariest films ever made. Or something.
Anyhow, I could've went and saw Around The World In Eighty Days today, but I instead opted to hang about with a couple of friends... I don't know if the film was better than a LAN tournament of UT2K4 and a game of football-tennis (think tennis with a football, played over a fence in my garden), and I guess I'll never find out.
I saw Terminator 2 again on a TV show. It's a good movie!

All of those things are called prepositions. The are used to descrobe one object's relation to another. There are more than 100 prepositions. You have to memorize what each one means. You used "on" correctly. One example of a mistake you could make would be "I saw a bird to my house." In reallity, the correct sentence would most likely be "I saw a bird at my house."
If I were to explain everything about prepositions, it would take me several more characters. Ask a local English teacher about them for more information.

I saw the new version of Around the World in 80 Days a few days ago at the cinema. It was pretty cool.
Last night I achieved a feat I never thought I would - I sat through all three hours of Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. I don't really follow Lord of the Rings, but it was well made if nothing else.
And it certainly was nothing else. Nothing else at all.
I love all the Starwars movies, those that I've seen, at least. Have they come out with the 3rd one yet?

Becuase it's the name of the magazine, as in when you talk about a ship, you call it the '(shipname). Same idea.

Well, I've just finished watching The Hole on TV, and I can confidently say that I won't sleep properly tonight O_O Pretty scary stuff.

It wasn't so much violence as brilliantly-written horror... true, some poor guy got his head smashed in because he tried to nick a can of Coke, but that wasn't the worst thing.
As for the Black Hole, I have no idea what that is, so I couldn't say.
The plot for The Hole is that four university students get locked in some underground bunker, and only one comes out alive after a whole series of events which were, put simply, her fault. IMDB it for more/better info.

The Black Hole was a fairly old movie about some professor or something who got trapped near a black hole, was obsessed with it, and a robot named Maximillian. I remember nothing else about it except that Maximillian killed at least one person, probably a main character.
The urge to watch starwars is no longer present.
The best line (and part) of the movie is where Maximillian kills one of the people, and then pushes his body down the reactor and the professor says "Maximillian! You should not have done that! He was a good man." I also remember that the professor guy was doing some kind of cloning research.
I thought he was researching the black hole.

WOW! O_O I have just seen what is probably one of the weirdest and spookiest films of all time! It's an old black and white horror called 'Eraserhead', directed by David Lynch. I won't even try to explain what it's about. All I will say is that it just has to be seen to be believed. It is so abnormal, and yet the characters are so human (well, the main one is, anyway!) Everyone else is just there to add to the surrealism. If you get the chance, see Eraserhead and let me know what you think.

Dumb Lem, it was an extremely weird movie! Not strictly a horror, but that is probably the closest traditional genre to describe it. IMDB describes it as 'Fantasy, Drama, Horror'.
I've never seen that movie, but it sounds like it's weird, and I like weird movies.

I'm still sceptical about Spiderman. If one existed, it'd be cloneable, but I don't know how you could make one. The wrist rope thing isn't very scientific, for a start. :-/

Yeah, I saw Brazil... but I didn't like it much. It was another one of those seen during our run of 'bleak future movies'.
I saw Brazil for the first time last week on DVD, and it's now one of my all-time favourite films ever, tying with Donnie Darko (and a few others)! B)
Didn't you think it was funny when they're sitting in the restaurant and the bomb goes off, and everyone carries on talking as normal? Or when the audio-typist is typing in screams and other sounds from a person apparently being tortured? Or when Sam threatens to shoot Jill with his finger? :D
Of course, there's much more to it than the humour. It's also a hyperbole of how society could become, not technologically, but socially and how formal and commercial everything is, or tries to be. And how every other minute people are expected to fill out forms and receipts for everything, and all the people trying to sell him policies and what-not before he's interrogated! Hilarious!
True, it is also very bleak and creepy, and the ending isn't very pleasant. But I can't help but love it for those aspects as well!
So, how long ago did you see it? Why did you not like it?

I haven't saw it yet, but I've heard Mr. Moore doesn't mind people distributing it on filesharing networks; may as well try and download it, I enjoyed his previous film, Bowling For Columbine, as it made some very strong points.

But actually, I don't really have a favourite. I like comedy, adventure, thriller, romance, science fiction - anything really, as long as it's entertaining and has a good plot, and doesn't have anything just for the sake of it. (A ton of fight scenes, or lots of needless gore, or too much soppy romance for example.)
I voted thriller. I'm not exactly sure of the definition of 'thriller', but I like those sort of films. I also like other genres, especially drama, fantasy (but not magic), comedy and sci-fi.

I like Animes of almost any kind.
I like science fiction best, but sometimes I like comedy. And sometimes I like fantasy.
And sometimes I like horror or thillers, or....
Mostly, I like good movies. Except (in my opinion, anyhow) for romance movies, as by definition they cannot be good movies.
I can't remember what I voted for, but comedy (especially of the Monty Python variety) is my favourite; the Fish-Slapping Dance, Twit Olympics and Lumberjack Song are all classics. Oh yeah, and Holy Grail wasn't rubbish either.
Holy Grail's the only one I watched, but it was good. I voted for Sci-Fi as my favourite.

Sonic X is going to be broudcasted in Germany. The voices sound a bit awful in the preview. Chris is a bit squeaking and Sonic sounds like a man at middle-age. X_X

I voted comedy, but I also like sci-fi, and most other genres to some extent. One of my favourites is The Fifth Element, as an example.

Anyone seen Fight Club? I saw it for the first time last night, and it's pretty cool and interesting. It's a dark-comedy/action/psychological thriller, the ending is very artistic and memorable too.

Well... I thought that it was much better, but it's a classical nice movie. SFX of Garfield are very nice too.

LOTR: Return of the King
I think I saw it at a friend. The LOTR-Movies are very good.
LOTR is okay, but waaaaaaaay overrated. I still can't believe that Return of the King ranks as no. 2 in IMDB's top 250! I mean, it was well made and all, but soooooooooo corny and clich&#E9;! O_o
Not to mention altered, shortened, wrong, and otherwise inferior to the books.
I've not seen that particular one, but I loathe it nonetheless. And I did actually watch the first one, so I did kind of give them a chance. They failed miserably, needless to say, but still.
Enough of that, no? O_O
Ahem. On a more positive note, I just saw the first two Star Wars movies again [not I and II; IV and V]. The special editions. I'll admit, I was worried about those, but they really don't seem to have changed much. I did notice a few things tweaked or added here and there, but those certainly weren't detrimental. So I'm happy. I hadn't seen them in a few years, and that was far too long.
Hah, I just watched both of those recently as well... the special effects leave a lot to be desired in comparison to modern-day CGI and whatnot, it still retains its brilliance regardless though.
Personally, I quite liked the LOTR movies (especially when accompanied by a rather powerful sound system :D) but I can see why readers of the books hated them, as they aren't 100% canon.
As for Spongebob Squarepants... I'm saving my money for that. XP

Better movies -- perhaps. Better at being like the Lord of the Rings? I think not. Even though I haven't seen them. I've at least heard that they changed even more things around after that.

I understand the plot perfectly well. It's not that hard. I have actually read those archaic things that are known as 'books' several times, you know... what the movie makers based the movies on. Yes, I say based. They may just blatantly use the same title, but it really should be 'based'. Perhaps even 'loosely based'. It's like based.
I find it dissapointing to find that in the movie,(LOTR) they took out the entire scouring of the shire! >:( I was looking forward to seeing how that would be made.

As everyone can see, there is obviously a big issue with the Lord of the Rings movies. I've read all three main LOTR books, and The Hobbit. Yes, they do change some things, but in general, it doesn't seem like they change that much. The paths of the dead are definitely different, but, I can't really blame them. Imagine, recording a bunch of guys walking through a passage for about however many minutes, and then finding a door with a dead guy hanging on it, and then calling up the army and having it follow you automatically.
Even so, I don't see why the inaccuracies such as would bother you so much. The movies don't imply that the book is wrong or anything. It's more like listening to a kinnd of altered version that is still good. Also, even if specifics are missing/changed, the army movement is about 95% correct.
So, I think the movies
1. Are ,as most book-movies, not completely accurate to the book
2. Good despite inaccuracies
3. Would be too long if absolutely everything was included. I mean, each movie is already about 3 hours long. Imagine having EVERYTHING put in!!!
If you feel otherwise then go ahead and present a counter argument. It would be more than welcome. (I'm good at debates)

Anyway, who's seen Monty Python and the Meaning of Life? I've just seen it for the first time today. It's full of a lot of childish gross-out humour, as well as religious and political satire. So don't see it if you're easily offended.

Anyone seen 'Run Lola Run'?
Actually no. What is it?
It's like an action/thriller about a girl with an amateur gangster boyfriend who has lost a large bundle of money for his unforgiving boss. So she has 20 minutes to get the money somehow and run to the phone box where he's waiting before he robs a supermarket for the money instead. The cool thing is that the same situation is played out three times, each with different outcomes, and there are very short clips of how each set of events changes the lives of various other people on her way. It's like a cool combination of Sliding Doors and Groundhog Day, and it has some pretty humorous scenes thrown in too.
Andi has probably seen it or heard of it, since it's a German film. The German title is Lola Rennt.

Has anyone seen the movie, "Hunt for Red October"? If they have, can they tell me what it's like? I'm reading the book right now, and it's good.
Ground Hog Day is one of my favourite films, and the concept behind 'Sliding Doors' I like, so I will have to rent out "Run Lola Run".
A film that I've seen recently that had an impact on me was 'Brazil'. The cinematography is amazing, it's like a comic book but not in a lame Batman and Robin kind of way. The film has a very serious 1984-esque theme to it, which when coupled with the general surrealness of it, amounts to a really memorable film.
Drumnbach, Brazil is my second favourite film of all time. It's so chaotic and mesmerizingly beautiful, and the ending just blew me away! =8O
And would you believe it was directed by Terry Gilliam from the Monty Python team?! O_o
It's nice to know there's another Brazil fan here!
I haven't yet seen (or read) 1984, but I've heard good things about it (like it was a big inspiration to Brazil!) B)

Rather not; both is possible.
"rennen" is...I would say...a bit faster than "laufen". ;)
But it's also a matter of interpretation. At least it means "to run" either.

Anyone seen 2001: A Space Odyssey?
I've heard of it, and seen various clips. I haven't seen it in full.

Big Lebowski, big favourite of mine. One of the few decent stoner movies.
Now this story I'm about to unfold took place back in the early nineties-- just about the time of our conflict with Sad'm and the Eye-rackies. I only mention it 'cause some- times there's a man--I won't say a hee-ro, 'cause what's a hee-ro?--but sometimes there's a man. And I'm talkin' about the Dude here-- sometimes there's a man who, wal, he's the man for his time'n place, he fits right in there--and that's the Dude, in Los Angeles. And even if he's a lazy man, and the Dude was certainly that--quite possibly the laziest in Los Angeles County. ...which would place him high in the runnin' for laziest worldwide--but sometimes there's a man... sometimes there's a man.
2001 is one of my favourite films. Many people call it boring, perhaps because it's one of the few visual experiences where one can use their imagination to fill in the gaps. Although it's a good theory that the long periods of nothingness are there to convey the deep emptiness of outer space, I prefer to see those parts as intermissions in where the viewer can start working things out, or philosophise on the events that preceded.
