The Fart Gallery.
I could insert a lot of "wat"-memes here, but I think you get the idea. :scared:
bulletride's "Playing with blocks"
Nice short level, not overly difficult, but no special idea either.
bulletride's "Frostbite"
I am very glad to have the clear physics mode! The hardest part was going from the starting platform to the bottom one. Furthermore the second half needs quite some precision, too: My first attempt arrived at the exit platform one pixel too low.
Colorful Arty's "Just a minute...you wish!"
Excellent level and the hardest one in the pack (except possibly mine :P). Very nice solution! I have only one small suggestion: Put small arrows below the preplaced blockers to indicate their direction.
Colorful Arty's "Technicolor Nightmare"
Very easy and stright-forward level. I only used the topmost 60 pixels. Sorry, but I don't like the graphics here and played in clear physics mode.
Gronkling's "CAT ASTROPHE"
Very likely a backroute saving all lemmings wile not using the builder.
IchoTolot's "Framed with the best skills"
Not sure, whether my solution is 100% intended, because I have a walker spare. But it was much fun to play, and of medium dificulty. It has one issue though: The drop from the topmost to the second platform in the middle is exactly the splatting distance.
IchoTolot's "Soilworker's Song of the Damned"
Far harder than your other level, although I managed to save all lemmings. Nice idea, a surprising number of paths the lemmings walk along automatically, and no need for clear physics mode. :P
möbius's "The floor is Lava!"
I have the feeling that my solution is not quite intended, because I use no climber and only one floater. Not the visually most pleasing level, but fun to play.
namida's "The longest minute!"
Rather precise and fiddly solution, so probably not quite intended. But a curious layout, so I am looking forward to find the intended solution.
namida's "The fart gallery"
Sorry, but neither the artwork nor the solution impressed me here.
Raymanni's "Claustrophobic bricks"
I kind of doubt that I should have turned on the exit platform with the builder and miner. But even so, this was a fun little level. Pleasant visuals, too.
Ron Stard's "The Freedom Man"
I really don't know whether my solution is intended: It has a lot of skills left over at the end, but on the other hand this is basically the only approach I can think of. Nice, "little" level, though.
The Fart Gallery is (quite obviously) open ended, so any working solution is valid.
The Longest Minute is a backroute, indeed.
I tried so hard to prevent that backroute on my level nepster, but I never considered building a bit and
then mining to turn the lemming. Dang! :D
I wonder if my solution to the longest minute is a backroute, because
Spoiler
I didn't use one basher and the blocker.
Excellent job solving my Rule 1 level Nepster! While not exactly intended, it is both close enough and good enough to the actual solution!
Technicolor Nightmare on the other hand is a horrific backroute; one which I won't be able to patch methinks. A shame, since the intended solution is quite magnificent.
First of all, I have to say that all the Rule 1 and Rule 2 levels are quite difficult, at least for me! And that's a good sign of their quality  I am tempted to take a peek at Nepster's replay solutions before call it a day :D
Regarding my level (there's no need in covering this comment within a spoiler tag, but anyway...):
Spoiler
Yes, that's the intended solution. The surplus skills are just red herrings. It's probably the easiest level of all the contest, but in my defence, I have to say that it would be somewhat harder without skill shadows (and with timed exploders).
I hope you find the 1st part of the solution creative and original, but I don't know if that maneouvre has been used before in any pack.
I'll update a little the scenario, in order to make it "a bit" harder (specially, if you want to solve it without skill shadows).
Rule 1 levels done! All the levels were pretty sweet!
Arty:
Spoiler
I love freeing blockers so this level was a treat! So many solutions almost work but just don't quite do it. Great level!
Namida:
Spoiler
Nice builder extension level.
Nepster:
Spoiler
Fantastic solution! My only 'complaint' is that I didn't notice the steel in the trap at first so that was a little annoying.
Raymanni:
Spoiler
I saved 2 more than needed so this is probably a backroute. Still a great level either way!
Mobius:
Spoiler
This level has nice execution with the timing of getting the builder with using the builder in time. Great level!
My commentated video playthrough of all V 1.0 levels (link to first video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUK4TgDMedg
Also my current solution replays are attached to this post as well ;)
I think I've found quite a few backroutes here ;P
Icho's solution to The Longest Minute is a backroute (and not fixed in the updated version). Will comment on bulletride's when I'm on a PC.
(EDIT: bulletride's solution was also a backroute)
Rule 2 and 3 replays attached.
Updated the ZIP and NXP.
Changed levels:
Rule 1: bulletride's "Playing With Blocks" (V2), namida's "The Longest Minute" (V3), Raymanni's "Claustrophobic Bricks" (V2), Ron Stard's "Lover Of Mine" (late submission)
Rule 2: bulletride's "Frostbite" (V2), Ron Stard's "The Freedom Man" (V2)
Rule 3: No changes
There are still some levels I haven't been able to solve, but I did manage to beat the new one:
The lover of Mine
A pretty good level! :D Maybe a bit more decoration would be in place if you ask me, but the puzzle was fun, though I'm not sure if my solution was a backroute. I saved one extra lem.
All Rule 1 levels solved.
bulletride's "Playing With Blocks"
I'm not sure if this is intended or not; or if this level might even be an open-ended one. Either way, I found it pretty challenging and definitely a good level.
Colorful Arty's "Just a Minute... You wish!"
I'm not sure how I feel about making the level tiny and going with a 25 second time limit. A larger level, and a longer (while still fairly short) time limit could've made it more clear which solutions won't work and which just need more fine-tuning. With that being said, I do very much like this solution, and it took me quite a while to find all the tricks.
mobius's "The Floor Is Lava!"
This level wasn't bad, but I didn't feel it was particularly great either.
Nepster's "Greetings from the Mad Architect"
I'm fairly certain I backrouted this one. The solution feels both too messy and too easy to be a Nepster solution. On a side note, to someone not overly familiar with this graphic set (like myself), the steel blocks over the trap just look like part of the trap's graphic.
Raymanni's "Claustrophobic Bricks"
This is my favorite of the Rule 1 levels, and also took me longer to solve than all the rest combined. Great level!
Ron_Stard's "Lover of Mine"
This level is pretty straightforward to anyone who knows the miner-builder trick, and could use some more decoration.
Thank you for your comments about my last-minute level! Here are my thoughts:
Raymanni
Yes, it's a backroute. And a embarrasing one! :-[ . But it's easy to fix it. I agree with you and with Namida: the scenario is very sober and somber. I have designed -by myself, not counting the NES/ZX level conversions- only 4 levels in all my life, including this one, and in every of the previous three, I've put extra decoration, in order to make it beautiful. I was eager to send this level to the contest before time expired, so I've just make sure it worked as I wanted.
I promise I'll add decoration and fix that backroute in a next update!
namida
You're right: this is a well-known trick for the veteran player. You hit the nail with the intended solution, despite the embarrasing backroute that Raymanni easily spotted, much to my annoyance.
As I said to Raymanni, I've only made a few original levels, so it's comprehensible they are still not very hard, since I'm still a novice :D. However, I think the two I sent to the contest would be interesting and tricky to solve within the old engine (DOS/Lemmix), which offers no help at all to the players.
Also, I agree with you and Raymanni about the austerity of the scenario: I'll add some more extra decoration and fix the backroute in the next version. I'm afraid I can't think of anything to improve the difficulty: at least, I hope you find some challenge on the -somewhat- not trivial moment to increase of the release rate :-[
Here are my replays to the currently updated levels :)
I am positivly surprised on the variations of solutions to my R3 level! I could possibly even cut a builder or up the save req to save all, but I think I leave it as it is, as all solution are non trivial and simply add to the varity the level provides.
I think I will make a best-of video of all the different solutions to my R3 level near the end of the contest playing phase
I also updated my R2 level, cutting a walker and therefor making Nepster's solution the intended route (BR's was a slight backroute) as it was a minor optimasation to my solution.

Don't take it too harshly. These level design contests bring out a lot of very unique and excellent levels; so how your level is seen in the context of a contest should not be taken as a sign of "maybe I'm no good at making levels". And even more so - every good level designer had to start somewhere. Certianly, some of the levels I made in the past were far worse than this one.
IchoTolot: Your new solution to The Longest Minute is another backroute (as you may have guessed, since this solution wouldn't work on the original version of the level).
Resolved namida's level.
Getting closer now. :)
I'll work on another fix tomorrow.
Unfortunately all solutions to my levels have been backroutes so far :'(. Updates are coming soon...
- Sorry for the steel at the trap in "Greeting from the Mad Architect". I will try to make it more visible in the updated version.
- @bulletride
Your solution to "Grettings from the Mad Architect" is cool, but unfortunately hasn't anything to do with the intended one. Your solution to "Dark Secret" is close, but misses the trick that triggered the composition of this level in the first place.
- @IchoTolot: Yes, no custom music for my levels. But be glad, otherwise your video would have been silenced by YouTube again. :P
Nepster's levels resolved.

I'm not sure if this is intended or not; or if this level might even be an open-ended one.
Spoiler
I was not sure if this one would be open ended or not lol. I found my way to beat it and then hoped there would be no simple path that I missed. Yours and Icho's solutions each used part of my solution plus some other tricks thrown in so I think it worked out fine as being an open ended level. The way you used that one builder to bash through 2 blocks was some unexpected (but cool) behavior for sure!
Nepster R1 V3 resolved.
@IchoTolot: You solution to "Dark Secret" is an acceptable (because non-fixable :P) alternative solution, which allows for a slight variation that is far less precise. "Mad Architect" still needs some more work, as you probably could have guessed.
And I resolved the updated levels:
bulletride's "Playing With Blocks"
Not much different that the first version.
bulletride's "Frostbite"
Nothing changed, except having to be one pixel more precise.
namida's "The longest minute"
Big backroute, if I have to guess...
Raymanni's "Claustrophobic Bricks"
Pixel-hunting is always fun... :-\
Ron_Stard's "Lover of Mine"
Pretty easy for me, but fun. Not the best-looking level in the pack.
One backrouted person had enough for today, but it seems another one still wants more backroutes ;)
Arty R3 V2 attached.
Arty keeps on placing pick-up-skills that you don't even need to collect
Arty R3 V3 attached.
Updated replays of Claustrophobic Bricks, Dark secret, Framed with the best skills, Greetings from the mad architect, lover of mine, freedom man, and the longest minute.
Annnnd V4 ;)
But now it's time for some sleep ;P
Here are the 2 updated levels + zanzindorf's new entry
The "!" on the Longest Minute is appearing and disappearing in some versions. Was there a multiple change of mind about the name? ;)
For zanzindorf's level some additional technical feedback: It looks great, but consider sacrificing the Lemmings spawn out of the mouth effect for a proper hatch as it is not clear where they spawn really. Maybe try and animate a fish mouth hatch? Also the minimap color is missing in your tileset --- simply add a fitting color for it in the GST and the minimap (old quality) is not a black void anymore ;)
I added the ! to test something at one point, meaning to remove it before uploading, and forgot to do so. Only V4 was affected, as far as I know.
Will check your replay later.
some (visual only) comments on the special graphics levels:
Spoiler
Arty's level: This level legit scares me. :scared:
Gronkling's
pretty nice from a level design point of view. I'm not a huge fan of the art style but I'm not saying it's bad either. Did you draw this yourself?

I drew it myself but I hate how it came out!!!! It's mega ugly, I didn't plan properly what I was going to do and I just drew random stuff. Everyone has backrouted this level but I can't stand looking at it so I don't really feel like fixing them X_X

My avatar is simply the logo of my favorite Melodic Death Metal band: Soilwork
The tilte of the level is simply a song they made in one of their album releases. You could also watch my video again as I mentioned it there as well. ;P
I am using a Quake 2 music track (which is
roughly in the same music genre direction) as I don't want to get into copy-right things and stuff, but I guess that using an instrumental version would have been alright anyway.
I will make a montage video of all the different solutions to my R3 level alongside with the new and updated levels at some later point! ;)
Also here is an updated replay of bulletride's Frostbite level as my replay broke with the last fix --- the solution is basically the same though.
SPAM!!!
Greetings from the Mad Backrouter! ;P
Arty's new version of R3 and Nepster's levels resolved.
Mad Architect may be intended, lots of little things I had to do to shave off a few seconds it was a very tight time limit. For Dark Secret the same solution is possible cause you can just bomb the trap instead of blocking it.
Technicolor had a kind of hack job solution so this may be a back route still.
Fish was a really cool looking level!
Icho your solution for Frostbite is the correct one. The changes were to (hopefully) prevent getting across the gap with a precise bomber.
bulletride's solution to "Mad Architect" was very cool , but if you get the correct solution, then you should be automatically within the time limit. So I want to avoid solutions that require lots of tricks just to stay within the time limit.
But at least the solutions are slowly converging towards the intended ones. Keyword being "slowly". ;)
And again!
Both bulletride and Icho backrouted Technicolor Nightmare again. I'm quite impressed with bulletride's solution, as it cleverly used the wacky terrain, but alas, it was not even close to the intended solution. Let's see what I can do about that.
IchoTolot: Your latest solution for The Longest Minute is still a backroute.
More backroutes (I think).
Yep, that's another backroute, and may turn out to be a very tricky one to deal with... I have an idea, but it's going to require some significant changes, especially since your backroute leaves one spare builder (if it weren't for that, I might be able to come up with a simpler fix).
LVL files and NXP have been updated.
Hopefully a step in the right direction :P
Still another backroute. Already made an update that should fix it, will post in a sec.
I haven't tried these levels after the very first versions, but seeing now how much The Longest Minute has changed made me laugh. :D
The only Rule 1 level my existing replays didn't work on was Nepster's one. Resolved, with what is almost certianly another backroute.
Quote from: Colorful Arty (in update topic) on May 11, 2017, 01:47:18 PM
And another pickup skill seals another backroute by Icho. I can keep this up as long as you can. ;p
Haven't tried the Rule 3 levels at all yet, but just keep in mind - overreliance on pickup skills can easily make the solution more obvious. Pickup-skill-heavy levels typically need to be purpose-designed to work well.
More replays! Got a good feeling this time with namida's level ;)
For Arty:
I have the strong feeling that all the pickup-skills and fire objects now really mess-up the scenary. I would advise turning down the pick-ups and fire objects again and carve out another solution that is not as easily backroutable and does not need all these enforcements.
In my opinion one big goal of such a level is avoiding to edit the origial picture at all, aside from adding in a hatch and an exit. This emphasizes the scenary more.
Terrain picture + hatch + exit. Only using these 3 components fits the theme best. (At least for me) And your level looks amazing when all these little fire and pick-up objects are absent ;)
So I would advise carving out a difficult open-end solution or one that is not easily exploitable (maybe swap out some skills even).
Also: I need more solution replays for my own R3 level. Currently I've got my own solution, bulletride's and Nepster's one (and I have an idea for another one), but I want more! ;P
Yes, all solutions to my levels have been backroutes so far. :(
Solved some more of the updated levels.
- namida's level is very likely a backroute
- bulletride's level now uses a different trick
- zanzindorf's level looks very pretty, but I have a lot of builders spare,
- Colorful Arty's replay is another backroute for V7 (perhaps already fixed, perhaps not).
More Nepster solutions. Hopefully this time.....
Yeah. I'm at the point where I can either keep trying to seal all the backroutes at the cost of the level's scenery, or revert it back to an older version that is more open-ended. The intended solution is just a really good one, which is why I keep trying to enforce it.
Think Dark Secret is finally correct. Mad Architect probably is as well.
The longest minute still probably not intended.
This version of Technicolor is much better the pick up skills were a little too much :P
Don't think this is intended as the steel that allows it wasn't in the original versions
Re: The Longest Minute solutions;
bulletride: Backroute. Looks like backroutes based on physics abuse are going to be quite hard to prevent here...
IchoTolot: VERY close to intended now. I'm not even entirely sure this can be blocked while keeping the intended solution, except maybe by making the time limit extremely tight (which would also make the name a bit weird).
Nepster: Backroute, might need some significant reworking of that part of the level to fix...
ZIP / NXP have been updated.

Me too. The timing is extremely precise, though:
Spoiler
The lemming releasing the crowd may not come be two frames earlier or later. If earlier, then the lower basher is not fast enough, if later then the first lemming of the crowd will escape to the left and not fall through the gap.
Both of you have the intended solution. :)

Everyone's levels are looking great so far. Looking forward to finishing more of them :D
Reminder that the update period closes in 3 days if there are no further updates. After this, we'll have a few more days of the playing phase, just so people can try out the definitely-final (as far as the contest is concerned) versions of the levels, especially people who may have wanted to wait until updates are no longer coming. Once that's over, voting will begin.
If there are any further updates, the update period will close 72 hours after the last one.

More Levels:
Colorful Arty's Just a Minute... You wish!Spoiler
Loved the compactness of this level. This puzzle's really good. Figuring out where and when to use your skills was a lot of fun.
Mobius's The Floor is Lava!Spoiler
The layout of this level looks good. I think I broke the level a little though. Finished without using my climbers, two of my floaters, and the builder pickup.
Raymanni's Claustrophobic BricksSpoiler
This was another really cool compact level. The design is top notch. The little hook loop thingies on the barrels was a nice touch. Also a good puzzle. Not too hard, but difficult enough to be a lot of fun.
Ran Stard's Lover of MineSpoiler
I finished with a leftover floater, but I think this is the intended solution. Fun level!
Levels ZIP and NXP have been updated. Since updates are now closed, these levels can now be considered finalized as far as the contest goes.
The playing phase remains open until at least the 26th; beyond that it's "whenever I put the poll up" (as we know by now, I don't always get it exactly on time).
I'd also like to remind contestants - if you have no other plans for the levels you've submitted, consider submitting them towards the NeoLemmix Community Pack (http://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=2026.0).
Since the update phase is over and everyone seems to be done playing the levels, here are the official solutions to both of my levels.
I donate both of these levels to the NeoLemmix Community Pack, as they have no place in ArtLems.
I posted my solution to The Longest Minute a while back. I don't think a replay for The Fart Gallery is very necessary. :P
Sorry, I mis-remembered the closing date for the playing phase and created the voting topic / shut this one. Ignore it (I've left it there so I don't have to make it again when voting actually starts). You may continue to discuss the levels / share replays (updates are meant to be closed, though).
And before I forget it again: Here are my replays with the intended solutions to both of my levels.
Here is my video with my final solutions and feedback on the levels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9W8tqCPyUM&feature=youtu.be
I also cover the intended and user-found solutions to my own levels. Sadly only bulletride and Nepster gave me solutions and feedback to these, I would have loved to see/hear more.
What was the problem? Where they too hard? Did they not appeal? Where they any fun to play? How was the music/asthetics? Did at least the intended solution impress?
More answers to these questions would still gladly be seen, even if I cannot update the flaws for the contest anymore.
Sorry I didn't give you feedback on your levels Icho. I have next to no free time these days with juggling my LP videos and my full-time internship. Most of my time is spent working, driving, or sleeping. I'll definitely check out the solutions though!
