There was an occasion that called for a celebration cake recently, and my mother baked this;

Neat, is your mom a Lemmings fan as well or did you help her out with the layout of the "pixels"?
Maybe it's the quality of the photo but I can't help thinking that the cakes look rather like kitchen sink sponges.
I'm sure it looks (and tastes, hopefully! 
) much better in real life.

Haha, yes, I know what spongecakes are. Actually, now that I'm at home at a different monitor it looks somewhat less fabricky. I probably just have never seen photos of spongecakes before.

For what it's worth, the "pixels" tasted great - as namida notes, these were pretty typical sponge-cake pieces. These had a little bit of a vanilla kick to them from the colouring gels, too, which made them even better.
