Are we not going to go back to "Lunch Time"? I'd be very interested in a discussion of how it differs from the ONML version, especially as Planet Lemmings lists it without a digger..... which I suspect is their mistake again.

Yeah, it's one digger rather than one miner. But the main difference between this and the Oh No! version is...

...that there's a wall on the roof of that structure, so you can actually dig through the wall whilst facing to the right of the level, meaning that those 10 floaters that were used in "Time waits for no Lemming" to save anyone going over the bridge are superfluous here.

Quote
What are some different solutions to "Watch your fingertip"? I can just think of one and I don't know if even that would work...... bash into the holding area at the top, last lemming mines, builds and bashes then makes a bridge from the "tip" so the other lemmings can fall safely. Any good?

Yeah, you can also not bother speeding up the release rate and just build over the miner, or you can use a blocker and a miner to keep the Lemmings in place. There's quite a few different variations.

Mayhem 6 - Over the Wall
 Save: 47/50
 Time: 5 minutes
 Release rate: 20
Skills: (despite what the site says)
   Bombers: 2
   Blockers: 2
   Builders: 3
   Bashers: 5

Good: Quaint, fun layout. And it uses a cool basher trick.
Bad: Far too easy to be in Mayhem. Still fun, nonetheless.
Better than One Way or Another? Yes, but only because it's shorter. Design-wise, they're about equal.

Think I'll hang back, until Present comes along. I dont remember many of the unique mayhem levels and I STILL can't pass "Lemmings Ark"

I've solved Fall and No Life and Let's Get Together in Insane Steve and ISU's Cheapo versions

"Lets Get Together" is probably my favourite unique Genesis level, because of It's attractive design. It requires a lot more brainpower than "Steel works" which was just building. It partly influenced the solution to my "Beyond Boundary Lines" level aswell.

I also made a DOS Recreation of "Lemmings Ark". Unfortunately, it's in DOS, so I cannot post it. My old PC has no internet access and I have no way of transferring data from my old PC to my new one.

You couldn't go back and do "Watch right or left" for us quickly, could you? Give you something to you while you're waiting.........

You mean "Watch right and left"? Is there any point? I mean it's just a recreation of ROCKY VI from Crazy (with the same skills as well, not those ones listed by the site).

Mayhem 9 - Twins

Skills: 7 Builders
3 Bashers

Save 2/2 (100%)
RR 30
2 minutes

Good: another level with a few different solutions
Bad: not as interesting as that other "2 Lemmings" level "The Great Lemming Caper".
Better than "Curse Of The Pharoahs"? - not really

Mayhem 14 - Climb and Fall. Fall and Climb.
 Save: 42/50
 Time: 2 minutes
 Release rate: 1
 Skills:
   Builders: 4
   Bashers: 1

Good: I couldn't think of anything, so Louise said 'The little steps are cute.'

Bad: The main point of the layout was used up in 'Don't Follow Me'. This level offers nothing new to think about.

Better than Pea Soup? Yeah, but only because it's shorter.

Oh, OK, if it really is identical.

Would still have been interesting to hear your thoughts on the appropriateness of its new position in the order, though (as you originally suggested when you argued against skipping the ONML recreations). Especially as Rocky VI was one of those ones that had me stuck for ages.........

No it wouldn't, trust me.  ;)

Mayhem 15 - Two Ponds

Skills: 1 Bomber
16 Builders
1 Basher
1 Miner

Save 60/60 (100%)
RR 30
6 minutes

Good: a classic 100% problem and a great garden-like level design.
Bad: 6 minutes a bit too long. That's all though.
Better than "The Fast Food Kitchen"? - in many ways!

Ahem, well...

Shall we pick up from where we left off (which I believe was Present 2)?

OK..... I'll try to remember what I posted.

Present 2: Don't leave my lemmings

1 floater, 3 builders, 1 basher
To save 80% of 50
Release rate 10
3 minutes

Good: it's not 20 of everything. And it's nice, short, and fun.
Bad: could have been made slicker by removing the unnecessary third builder.

Ack! I haven't been online for a few days so I missed the Mayhem 29 and 30 reviews!

Present 3: Let me get out of here
Skills: 10 of Each

Save: 50/50 (100%)
Release rate: 50
Time: 5 mins

Good: The only good part of this level is that you need to save 100%
Bad: Everything else

Aren't the Present levels supposed to be harder than Mayhem? So what does Psygnosis think they're doing serving us this?

Present 4 - Lemmings Standing on the Earth
 Save: 72/80
 Time: 5 minutes
 Release rate: 10
 Skills: 10 of everything

Good: A fairly challenging layout with a few different variations of one solutions.

Bad: 10 of everything again? Come on!

Present 5: Darkness of the royal Family

Skills: 5 Climbers
         5 Floaters
         5 Bombers
         5 Blockers
       10 Builders
         5 Bashers
         5 Miners
         5 Diggers

Save: 40/50 (80%)
Release rate: 50
Time: 3 mins

Good: It's possible in a variety of ways
Bad: 10 Builders? Why didn't they just keep the trend and give you 5?

The discussion we had on this also got deleted.....

Basically, what the others said is that they're not meant to be harder than Mayhem; they're a kind of mixture of difficulties. (You must have noticed that the first two are also extremely easy, right?)

-- Anyway, I enjoyed Present 3! Though two in a row using the idea of approaching the exit from under and using the terrain of the far right ain't such a good idea.... once you've seen it once it's easy.

Yes, and my "Through the Lemmyrinth".

 Which levelpack is that in?

Present 6 - No Time for a Detour
 Save: 98/100
 Time: 1 minute
 Release rate: 99
 Skills: 1 of everything.

Good: Well designed level where the only restriction is the time limit. It's clever because if there was more time, they would save themselves! And there are a few different solutions.

Bad: 98%? It can be done with 100, although that would greatly restrict the variety of solutions that can be used.
