Help & Guides / levelpack.ini for Lemmini use
« on: November 26, 2013, 03:08:35 AM »
So I need help with making this levelpack file for my custom graphics levels. Apparently Lemmini did not want to open after I created the folder in the same location as 1_orig and 2_ohno (its called 3_foxcustom) and moved my levels over to it, plus I was told I had to make this folder so that Lemmini could play my custom levels. Does it actually require the folder to be made?

What do I need to do with making this ini file? I do not remember making a file like this for previous level packs I made for Lemmini, but I know that I had one for them somehow, which means I need help starting from scratch. Currently I can make these levels using Lemmix, but I cant play/test my levels until I sort this problem out.

Levels for other engines / FoxLems - The NEW location of timfoxxy's levels
« on: November 20, 2013, 08:17:58 AM »
This is the refurbished edition of what was known as 'Van Clan Lemmings'.

Pretty much the same levels as before, but with a brand new format. One file to download...tons of levels inside two folders! No longer will you be forced to download 20 different level packs or so, you can now choose which levels you want to play, and if you dont like certain levels, just delete them!

As part of my new format, any future levels that I make will simply be added to the list and I will re-upload the list with the latest levels. You may or may not see levels that you have not seen before, depending on if you have played all or some of my levels before. Some of these levels I will be deleting in the near future due to their messy format and/or boring gameplay, and the level amount will change accordingly. Perhaps I can get your help to flush out these 'unnecessary' levels?

As a final note on my opening 'speech', I would like to thank EricLang for helping me to retrieve Lemmix out of my messy collection and rework it to open all of my levels properly. I would also like to thank Namdia for speeding up the process of converting my levels into the new format. You saved me good time! :)

The download of my new level pack should be attached to this post, I think :P

Please enjoy!

Lemmings Main / Lemmings for PC Canadian Soundtrack
« on: November 07, 2011, 01:57:20 PM »
Hey all, I know Ive been inactive for a very long time, so most of you will not know me or even remember me. I used to be a fan of making lemming levels and even had my own level pack under the name 'Van Clan Lemmings'. I dont make them anymore because of the simple fact that I cant make them challenging enough.

Anyway, I just wanted to show you all the soundtrack to a lemmings CD that I still have stored away in my TV unit. The music may be slightly skippy in some parts, but that is due to a high amount of scratches on the CD, and I was very surprised that I could get the songs off of it in very good condition!

There is the link for the whole collection. Some of you may recognise it, so I hope its enjoyable :D

Lemmings Main / Lemmings for PC Soundtrack
« on: May 11, 2010, 10:06:23 AM »
Hey guys its been a while since I last used this site :P

Just thought Id mention that some of you may remember watching/listening to the lemmings for pc music I put up on Youtube some time ago, and some people were asking for a download of the full soundtrack.

Well, I have managed to find a place to store the complete sountrack and it is now available for free download for those of you that are interested!

Two versions of the sountrack are available. The first one is the complete, unchanged set of 23 tracks ripped straight from the game CD that I own. Two bonus tracks exist at the beginning (not heard in any level) and all 4 tracks of the special levels (Beast, BeastII, Menacing & Awesome). THis version is available here: http://www.4shared.com/file/ZFA9TQoN/lemmings_soundtrack.html

The second version has minor differences. All tracks have been renamed slightly, and the 4 bonus levels have been given their own unique file names. The two bonus tracks are not included in this version. This version is availabe from this link: http://www.4shared.com/file/DJC0KF80/lemmings_soundtrack_version2.html

There is a little wait time for downloading the files, but that should be the only thing in the way :P

Site Discussion / SPAM WARNING! A Heads Up
« on: June 20, 2009, 02:30:37 AM »
As a member of the other lemmings forum run by LoftyD, I came across a new member that has been completely spamming out the forums with useless junk. His/her name is Lolly_Sweenybb864 and I wanted to give you guys a heads up so you can be prepared in case he tries to tackle these forums. In case you are wondering, this spammer has been getting into other forums as well when I searched for his name on google.

Dont let this guy ruin our forum if he tries to get into this one!

P.S. Here is the web link for the other forum if you are curious to see what he has done to it:

Mr. K's edit: You probably shouldn't click that link.  It's disgusting porn spam.

In Development / Van Clan Lemmings resurrection
« on: May 31, 2009, 01:42:55 AM »
As with the switch of these forums to the new address, I decided to bring back this topic for a few specific reasons. First, I want to pull all the levels out of the TWO confusing 100-level packs they are currently found in, regardless of whether some of them have been marked as bad levels.

Secondly, I want them to be compatible with Lemmix Level Packs, as CustLemm is hard to access for some people now. If I get the levels into 10-level packs for Lemmix, then I will have alot of uploading to do for more than 10 level packs...

Third, when I get the levels out and into the new level packs, I will divide them up between Original and OhNo level packs to make it easier for everyone to review the levels. At the start, I combined the grahpics of both games into the one complete pack using the OhNo More lemmings game files. This proved to be very confusing for people who tried to play the levels, and I want to make things right this time.

You may review levels here if you wish, or any other place suitable for reviewing custom levels.

I shall give updates to this later on  :)

Lemmings Main / Thoughts on a Game Engine for Lemmings
« on: April 07, 2009, 02:56:38 PM »
First, please forgive me if this is in the wrong section of the forums or should be a part of a current active topic, but I thought this deserves a new section.

If, or once we manage to get a new Lemmings sequel in the works soon, I would suggest we try getting a Game Engine as one of the foundations for the project. Having programming, scripting and stuff started from scratch may take alot of time to do, and so using a Game Engine would make the process easier (escpeically for a fan made game).

Whether it be "The Perfect Blend" topic by GuyPerfect using ideas such as extended skills, limited hero levels, child-friendly gameplay etc, or "Multiplayer Online Game" by EricLang focusing more on the multiplayer style of lemmings play, it should be relatively simple to desgin a remake/sequel.

I did a search on Google for "Game Engine" and came across the Torque Game Builder in the results as one of the many engines on the web ( http://www.garagegames.com/products/torque-2D ). It includes a Demo version which we could try to see if it works for the game we want to build. Im sure that a free game engine may not provide the features that would be needed, and if members would be willing to pitch in, we could get a decent game engine that would work for the game we want to make.

A Game Engine would also allow us to choose a name for the game that would be built, and although im sure many names have already been suggested, I have a few of my own:
- Lemmings: Reloaded
- New Age Lemmings
- Xtreme Lemmings
- Lemmings the Freshmen
- Back in the Habit of Lemmings
- Lemming All-Stars (if using multiplayer and/or special modes)

As noted before, this is mostly a suggestion for using a Game Engine to desgin a new Lemmings Game. Of course with it being a fan based game, using a freeware Game Engine would also work, just with lesser features/options available to us compared to a paid one. The Torque Game Engine I mentioned earlier is just one of the engines, the wikipedia article below lists a more wider range of engines available.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_game_engines

I hope it will provide some use, I am really interested in assisting with one of the projects, lets see how this turns out :)

Level Design / A BeastIII Of A Level (NEW Forest tileset!)
« on: September 13, 2008, 09:18:26 AM »
Hey guys, I just wanted to show you this level and tileset Ive just created, and yes it is my version of a sequel to the famous BeastI and BeastII levels from the original game. Check it out (and hope you like it!):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCVSdejf7vY

Also helpful to note that the video is over 5 minutes long, but I think that with the level design it balances out :D

Levels for other engines / Tim's Lemming Levels
« on: September 05, 2008, 04:00:04 AM »
My lastest levelpack is now complete! A quote from the other forum:

Quote
Many of you will be pleased to hear that I have completed my latest level pack of original tileset levels, fully compatible with Lemmini!

This new levelpack features:
- 40 levels, many brand new, some historical levels from my first levelpack (that some of you have already had a go at).
- New set of difficulties: Mild, Cunning, Wacky, Psycho.
- Returning music from the original game, with some of the special music featured in selected levels.
- Code-based gameplay: You cannot advance to the next level until you either complete the current level or know the codes.
- One level that is an exact copy of one of my featured Mario levels (you get to play the original, even though you will know the solution!)

I have uploaded the levelpack to the Level Library (and it is very small in size!):
http://www.lemmingsheaven.info/upload/timfoxlevels.zip

At this stage it is only available to Lemmini users. Apologies to anyone who run into this problem...

Good luck with the levels!

I hope at least some of you have Lemmini...

Lemmings Main / Lemmini?
« on: August 27, 2008, 12:49:19 AM »
I was just wondering, does anyone at this forum use Lemmini to play any lemming levels? Ive created my own unique tileset for lemmings, but it can only be used for Lemmix/Lemmini and the levels use mostly .ini format.

Ive seen alot of talk on CustLemm and Lemmix, but I havent seen any topics on Lemmini just yet, thats why im wondering about it...

Fan Corner / A new remixed version of an original lemmings song
« on: June 03, 2008, 05:55:26 PM »
Hey everyone, sorry I havent been on the website for a while, been getting stuck in World of Warcraft  :P

But today I was working on remixing a lemmings song (which didnt take very long) and making a video to go with it to put on YouTube (which took a number of hours to make). If any of u recognise the term "Lemmings Song 4" ive remixed that one to fit it in with those 1 minute levels. The song lasts exactly one minute with a small explosion at the end.

The video that I created for it features two names registered to this forum: Lem'ka and Dr Lemmingsham.

Before I upload the video to YouTube I need to ask approval by these two members that I can use their names in this video (its only fair that I do). So Lemka and Dr Lemmingsham, if you are reading this please let me know if you want to look at the video before you make a decision, we can find a way to get it sent over to you.

If everyone else wants to hear the remixed song let me know where to put it.

Level Design / LemEdit in Windows XP
« on: October 19, 2006, 01:26:19 PM »
Ok all, I have just run into a problem with using LemEdit in Win XP. The mouse doesnt work anymore when running the program. (Occasionally LemEdit refuses to load, but works sometimes, so not a big deal)

It looks like all of my recent levels (and whole pack) I have created in LemEdit are going to have to be modified to suit the new level editor EricLang created: Lemmix. However, I have not yet learnt to use the program, or how to change the graphics sets to suit Lemmix, as my graphics sets in my whole pack are mixed, including the ones from Lemmings and Oh No More Lemmings.

It is going to take some time to do this, so I wont be able to offer any levels to the Lemmings Remake right now (except for maybe my first set of levels that I dont want to change, or it will take forever)...unless anyone can help me fix my problem faster.

I will keep everyone updated on my progress into this problem.

Tim.

Lemmings Main / Chat Room for the Lemmings Forum
« on: October 12, 2006, 12:34:07 PM »
I was just thinking about this, and I decided to let everyone know my idea.

Perhaps we can have a live chat room somewhere in case there are instant questions about Lemmings that need answering. I do not want to go ahead with until Mr Ksoft or someone lets me know what they think about the idea.

The chat room can be linked from the forum. The topics on the forum can be used in the chat room, like 'The Lemmings Remake', as there have been quite a few posts in that topic, and it may be easier to have instant conversations about the topic.

I will not continue further until you all give your opinions on the idea.

Levels for other engines / The VanClan Lemmings Pack - Top 10 Discussion
« on: October 07, 2006, 02:49:10 AM »
Ok as you all know, my new pack of levels are bigger than everybody's packs that I have seen. Located under the name "VanClan_Lemmings", the pack contains a massive 100 levels for you all to try out.

I know that I have just added it to the Lemmings File Portal, so I am hoping for this topic to be a long term project for everyone and long lasting.

First, try having a go at as many of my levels as posible before participating. The pack contains all the graphics sets of Lemmings, Oh No! More Lemmings, and Holiday/Xmas Lemmings, so the pack would be hopefully different to most packs that other people have created.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to have different Top 10 categories for my levels, as I would very much like to know what you think of my levels.
We will start off with a few categories, and then when new ideas arise, anybody can make suggestions for new Top 10 categories.

Of course, if Top 10 lists are too difficult for specific categories, we can make it Top 5 instead, or even just a single winner.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, now we come to the categories part of this topic. Remember, if you have any more suggestions for categories, please post them:

1) Top 10 Best Level Layout
2) Top 10 Best Level Name
3) Top 10 Most Complex Level

Those will be the starter categories. I do not know how we will work the Top 10 lists, but I would love to have suggestions and ideas from everyone to make it work. You can post a couple of levels you really like, a personal Top 10 of your favourites, or just one level you are addicted to.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I really hope this topic will work out for everyone. Plus I hope my levels are at least half-decent. I guess I will find out soon.

Tim Fox.
