Title: LemmingsSDL
Post by: Mindless on January 25, 2010, 05:47:45 PM
LemmingsSDL

Happened upon this on another board that I lurk on; it looks to be partially based on LemmingsDS, and it has multiplayer.

edit: replaced inaccurate description

Very interesting. :-D

The author fills a marketing hole for certain. He is still fine-tuning the game physics at this time, but LemmingsSDL will be the first exact Amiga clone with easy-to-use multiplayer that I know.

Nice work miner! Great to see you have ported it for the pandora, that is going to be huge!!  Im still waiting for my pandora :(  Looks like it could still be months away with the production changes they are 'yet again' going through.

btw, able to include the tunes from ONML also by any chance?

  Great work!!!

If you know where I can 'find' the ONML tunes, then I would be more than happy to get them in there!
I would like to get the Xmas lemmings levels and tunes (and sprites!) as well but I couldn't find them anywhere...any ideas?

ONML/Holiday Amiga music

The Holiday sprites should be compressed in the like-named file as they are in L1 or ONML. If you haven't extracted them from the original game yourself, you can either plow through the DOS version's documentation on the Lemmings Archive (same link as above), or wait for someone else to provide further info or even the sprites themselves.

Thanks Simon

Typically, I've just made another release with a few minor fixes - now, I'll have to wedge those new tunes in and make another!

I didn't extract the levels myself, I borrowed the loading routines from LemmingsDS and therefore his level files (except the two player ones)

We should have a L++ session again sometime!

Hey miner,

I sent you a PM a few days ago, I'm not sure whether you read it. I basically invited you to the IRC channel again -- join irc.quakenet.org #lix when you have time. We've been playing very frequently in the past days, and will be happy to test LSDL, too.

Of course, anyone is welcome to join the channel, but most people know that that since I've advertized the channel quite a lot recently <_<;

Sorry, I haven't read it (even now, after reading your message here!).

I shall have to keep more of an eye open.

I need to get a central server setup for LSDL but I think my wife has other plans for me this week, grrr. I will try and get some games in, though all I've been doing on the computer recently is hacking lemmings. It's running much better now, very happy with it...and addicted to programming it again   ;)

Hey Miner, I recently tried your most update version and find that it doesn't actually run on another of my systems, but I think its just graphic card incompatibility.

The system I play it on is:

win7 64bit
Geforce GT 240

(though if you just run the .exe it tries to open then closes, unless I just run it as administrator, then its fine.

On another machine I have:

win7 64bit
HD Radeon 6700

The game application looks like it opens a window to start again, then the screen immediately just dissapears, even if ran as administrator or trying all sorts of different compatibility modes or other options available in that menu.

The only thing that somewhat works is putting it into 256 color, but then it looks very wacky and bad.

Any ideas?   Thanks :)
