Title: DMA's Lemmings 1 Editor Manual
Post by: Simon on June 09, 2023, 12:25:43 AM
Hi,

digging through the links on Lemmings Universe (http://www.lemmingsuniverse.net/) (post here on LF (https://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=6310.msg98986#msg98986)), I found Mike Dailly's blog from 2021 through now (https://lemmings.info/). There is a page for all Lemmings images of the blog (https://lemmings.info/lemmings-pictures/). Among those, there are scans of the

Manual of DMA's Lemmings 1 editor:
Page 1 (https://lemmings.info/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Lemmings1Editor_1.jpg)
Page 2 (https://lemmings.info/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Lemmings1Editor_2.jpg)
Page 3 (https://lemmings.info/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Lemmings1Editor_3-1.jpg)
Page 4 (https://lemmings.info/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Lemmings1Editor_4.jpg)
Page 5 (https://lemmings.info/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Lemmings1Editor_5.jpg)

On page 2, we learn that "X Co-ordinate goes from 0-1599, Y Co-ordinate goes from 0-199 although this includes the icons which do not form part of the level. (Not in this Universe anyway.)" Thus we should deduct some space from the Y range, but there is no reservation about the X range.

It follows that Lemmings 1 levels (Amiga at least?) are really 1600 pixels wide. On DOS, we can only see 1584 pixels, the screen cannot scroll all the way to the right. Nonetheless, through x = 1599 and even beyond, the unscrollable emptiness behaves like air until even the right edge eventually becomes solid (https://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=6331).

On page 5, we learn what you can do with behind mode a.k.a. no-overwrite mode: "This applies to object mode as well, for such things as hidden exits."
