I don't have CustLemm, but I have access to Insane Steve's website, so here ya go!

Level 5: BLEEEEEGGGGGGH!

Save 97% of 70
Release rate 20
1 minute

10 climbers, 5 bombers, 5 blockers, 2 of everything else

Good: you only get one minute, so you won't waste hours on different possibilities
Bad: really awful title, and.... let's face it.... big cheapie.

Really bad: and wasn't it Insane Steve who didn't manage to work out Manclimber United?

It wouldn't be just one-third more. Nowhere near.

2^8 = 256
3^8 = 6561

2^16 = 65,536
3^16 = 43,046,721

2^24 = 16,777,216
3^24 = 282,429,536,481

2^32 = 4,294,967,296
3^32 = 1,853,020,188,851,841

I think we can stop there...... you see that if a bit could have three states instead of two, 32 bits could encode more than a quarter of a million times as much information as they currently do. A little bit more than a one-third increase!  :P

Level 6: Four for four

Save 100% of 4
Release rate 4
4 minutes 44 seconds

14 builders, 3 bashers, 1 digger

Good: lovely layout that mixes different styles without going over the top -- and it's short and fun! Also, I like having a small number of lemmings.

Bad: You feel that having four trapdoors hasn't added much to the level except visually.

AND LOOK -- THIS IS MY 444TH POST! HOW APPROPRIATE IS THAT!!!  :P

Um...... on my copy I have 2 each of climbers, floaters, BASHERS and diggers. You still need a clever trick, but having bashers certainly helps!

Level 4 - No-one said this was going to be easy

Bad: The exit doesn't work!!! Surely this must be impossible?

Thank you, Shvegait! And thanks for the comment........

So, "Adam's lemmings again". I propose we skip the ones that are just remakes, as this is a long set. Thus, we start with:

Level 2: What the hell? [Screenshot forthcoming. Maybe.]

Save 100% of 60
Release rate 99
2 minutes

Skills: 20 of everything

Good: the fast release rate, the short time, and having to save 100% all make you think.
Bad: pretty easy and nothing especially original

OK, I just beat "I am A.T." at last.

Another hint: let the first 20 or so lemmings from the right trapdoor go straight to the exit before starting the actual work. I don't know if it's possible without, but that made it a hell of a lot easier for me. And it took such ages to think of........

So, just "Final impediment" now and I've done the Genesis levels!  :P

Damn! Now I wish I hadn't told you...... I was going to make a Cheapo level based on that trick and see if anyone got it.

But "infinite 9s plus one" is meaningless; if you add one to an infinite number the answer is the same infinite number. Your sum then becomes:

0.9 recurring = infinite 9s / infinite 9s + 1 = infinity / infinity = 1

You just don't understand the concept of a limit. Shall I put it differently?

1 - 0.9 = 0.1
1 - 0.99 = 0.01
1 - 0.999 = 0.001
1 - 0.9999 = 0.0001

In the limit, as the number of 9s goes to infinity, the difference between 1 and 0.999999 tends to zero. In every term of the sequence, the difference is increasingly small but still slightly more than zero; but the limit itself is zero.

Sorry, I prefer guest's solution. And it can be adapted to solve Part Two:

L1 bashes. RR50 (there's just space to do this even on the Genesis, which doesn't allow RR changes while the game is paused). L2 turns and immediately digs; L3 digs just before him. L2 and L3 each bash as soon as they're deep enough to trap the lemmings -- bingo! holding area! RR99. L1 digs a couple of pixels then continues bashing. Use your last basher to release the crowd from the holding area at the right time when they will just catch up with L1 as he emerges.

I don't mind re-doing the missing Mayhem levels, if someone will help me out (there are just five unique ones after this).......

Mayhem 18: Two different worlds

Save 49 of 50
Release rate 1
7 minutes

1 bomber, 1 blocker, 10 builders, 3 bashers, 1 digger

Good: makes you think, and you need to use your builders efficiently
Bad: bashing the right way from a confined space is really frustrating

Actually, .9 recurring IS 1. "Recurring" just means a limit: the limit as n goes to infinity of 0.9 followed by n nines. Which, mathematically, is exactly 1.

Well, I might just catch you up then. I've done _nearly_ all of Present and Sunsoft....... I'm leaving "Final Impediment" and "I am A.T." for a while while I tackle Mayhem.

Just beat "Just a minute" by guest's method...... many thanks! Of course I had been using the holding area but only by the more obvious means: dig down so that you can start your bash immediately (as opposed to Part Two) -- this gives you ample time to complete the level on all other versions I've played. Never thought of doing it like that!

(For some reason it seems to be much harder to find a new solution in the shock of your old one not working than to solve the same level from scratch....... as I found earlier with "Let's get together"!)
