Neat desktop!

Weirdly, I was just thinking of starting this thread up again, so I just took a screenshot of my desktop.
This is it.

Except the icons aren't usually all highlighted, of course, but I thought it looked better that way :P

Since my desktop is boring, I decided to add a couple of captions. Here.

Lem'ka> I couldn't access yours :???:

Andi> Nice wallpaper... I could have actually had a t-shirt with a similar design, but I was skint at the time :/

L'K> I think he meant it was his wallpaper.

Looking a lot cooler these days. There's a bit of a story behind the wallpaper which I'll explain in due course.

I changed the desktop in my gaming profile. Why? Because the color scheme of the other one rendered it impossible to type sometimes O_O

That's the icon for the new matchmaker client the Gabber cooked up when the normal lobby went down. I don't know exactly why that symbol was chosen, but it wasn't me who chose it :D

Yey for laptops.

For the uninitiated, my mum recently got a laptop for her college work, which when she's not using is quite thoroughly mine. ;)

Nice system, Pentium M 1.7GHz with a gigabyte of RAM, ATi Radeon graphics and wireless networking capabilities... now I should be able to play UT from even the most remote farm (assuming it's a wireless-enabled farm, of course) :D

Press print-screen, paste into Paint, or any other imaging software, save onto system, upload to a server/file hosting site.

 edit:

Not sure if I've posted this desktop before, but here it is anyway.

Desktop with window

 JPGs (for lower-speed connections):

The background has actually been streched, due to the wide aspect ratio of the screen resolution. Here is the original.

I don't quite get it, but, here is what I think of XP's stupidity,

XP "MWAHAHA! &#A0;FOOLS! &#A0;I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE! &#A0;MORE MEMORY!!!!"

GENERAL PEPPER "Star Fox, we have an emergency! &#A0;XP is alive...and he's launched an attack against Corneria! &#A0;Enemy forces have sortied from XP's motherships and carriers are heading towards Corneria. &#A0;They've also built bases on several planets, and are firing IPBMs at Corneria. &#A0;Your help is crucial! &#A0;Corneria can take some hits, but with excessive damage, we will fall! &#A0;Protect Corneria, and wipe out XP's army! &#A0;We're counting on you, Star Fox!

Close, it's comparing Windows 95 and Windows XP's memory needs.

Yep, XP stinks.  Why?...who knows.  What's with the "bam" coming out of the bowl of...rice memory  XD  ?

Oh, and guess what game the above dialogue is from.

(replace all XP's with Andross, and take out the top line entirely).

I don't really see what the complaint is against XP, except it can't run LemEdit properly. But it's silly comparing its memory requirements to that of 95, because all PCs being released now with XP have at least 256MB of ram. But back in the days of Windows 95 and 98 they didn't have really complex programs or operating systems that require more than 64MB. So it's okay making progressively more complex software, as long as equivalently powerful hardware is available to accommodate it.

But it would have been possible to make winXP needing less Megs of RAM.

Windows 95 was made to run on a 386 at 4 MB RAM.
