Title: BBP vs Lemmings
Post by: BBP on March 22, 2018, 09:00:24 AM
Recently I was lucky enough to find both Lemmings 2: The Tribes and Lemmings 3d, but before I start on those I want to finish Lemmings Revolution first.
I was so happy it worked with the newly made patch and all that. I can now actually see the colours and the film at the start. Because of the lay-out of the screen I once accidentally deleted my savegame. A friend then wrote me a batch file so it automatically saves a copy when I fire up the game.

My Lemmings Revolution copy is the one published by Dutch company Dice Multimedia, it was boxed together with Holiday Lemmings. It had a working High Dive (the level that was broken in other levels) but it also had an incorrect fall height, making Tanks A Lot and My Finest Moment impossible to work. Half of the Water Lemmings die falling into the tank. I thought the new patch fixed that... :(

Couldn't help but notice the Water Lemmings look like regular Lemmings when they crash-land... :lemming:

Hi BBP!

Glad to hear that you got those games working, especially Lemmings 3D since that was my first Lemmings experience ever and why I'm always a little bias about it ;) I'm also happy about how you were able to get a working copy of Lemmings Revolution that actually has "High Dive" as a playable level. I think I had the same version you did. It had "High Dive" playable without a patch and I also had that strange bug where half of the lemmings in "Tanks A Lot" would just randomly splat. It seemed that the chances of success were greater if I didn't use the Fast Forward on that part.

Please share your experiences with these games in the future. I would love to hear about them :)

In Waste Not Want Not pt 2 my athlete Lem goes rogue and walks through walls and on thin air.

Oh yeah, Revolution is riddled with bugs. I encountered a lot of them in my LP of it. XD

Mmmm... a lot of the bugs I've found so far (save the fall height issue) are because the game can't really figure out where the edges are.
Since the gameplay is essentially 2d I wonder if you could make a wrapping 2D version of the game...

Definitely, but AFAIK there is no game engine out there right now that supports all the gameplay elements in Revolution, so even one were to take on the giant task of trying to manually re-create the levels in some other 2D game engine like Lix or NeoLemmix, such efforts will run into some issues with the many levels using things that simply do not exist in any form in those engines.

Incidentally, there is a huge list of Revolution bugs I reported on this thread (https://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=1433.0).

Maybe I can dig up some of the files in my copy of the game, and see if you replacing your files with mine might fix some of the levels or not.  I have yet to finished that game (a little difficult now since I had managed to physically destroy the game CDs :().

I put the CD in my backpack (one of the compartments, not the main one where I put my laptop) without putting it in the case first, and soon forgot about it for a while.  Eventually I discovered that the CD had broken into pieces.

Sorry to hear that...

I'm busy trying to figure out the best way to solve Legend Of Smelly Belly, how to lure out the bottom Weasel...

EDIT: Found it! Easier than I thought!
