We've finally reached the final phase and got 7 levels as candidates for LOTY 2022!

We will vote them down from 7 to 3 to 2 to 1, ensured by tiebreakers if nessesary.

If you want to see the full list of nominated levels in non-randomized order, check the nominations list topic.
If you want to play these levels without having to dig up all the various level packs, check the playing phase topic which has a pack available for download that contains all the nominated levels.

Please remember that discussing the nominated levels is not allowed in the LOTY2022 topics now that voting has begun. This does not apply to levels that have already been eliminated at the time. Discussing them elsewhere in the site is okay, as long as it's not in the context of LOTY2022.

I already stated my opinion here, although it is not a hard stance.
I just simply would say a skill remover should only remove the skill and do not add any additional things like a turnaround. And we would have no point for a turn as no head is being hit here.
I can see the other way working out as well.

@Armani.

Intended solutions to my R2 and R3 levels. Good job!

I can't (without massive unnessesary brute force fixes) prevent you from using those precise and timing heavy tricks in my R1 level. I can just assure you those are not nessesary!

Tricks in question:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

With those it is possible though to save 2 skills I initially used for my solution - yes 2 if you ever so slightly change up your solution.

I removed a root in V2 to steer your way to that save 2 skills solution, but I really do not want to tear up the level's visuals to prevent your challenge solution as I would declare it.

I would still say my intended solution (that I developed with kaywhyn) still has some precise tricks, but not nearly as much as those 2 tricks you used.

Still great find here!

An update to my R1 where I removed a pair of roots.

I think I have another one, but it may be a bit special as the level number might still go up: The NL Introduction Pack: https://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=5204.0

Next round is up!

As I already mentioned in a discord pm: KingShadow's solution is intended!

@NieSch

Intended sokution to my R3! Great job!

In the terms of levels that were already released:

As kaywhyn mentioned, I can't know of every released level and even if "contest version" is in the title I expect that there were significant changes compared to the older version (like with NieSch's "L-Team").

So the plan here is to:
A) Depend on the collective mind to inform me about such instances.
B) Speak to the honor of every author to at least put some sort of effort into their entries and don't just copy/slightly change some already released stuff.
C) Investigate suspicious levels that give me some sort of Deja Vu in advance.

Next round is up! :)

Contests / Level Design Contest #28 - Playing Phase (Update Topic)
« on: July 02, 2023, 04:56:59 PM »
Note: This topic is ONLY for posting updates to your levels, or making late submissions. All other posts will be deleted. If you want to discuss the levels, post replays, etc, please do so in the Discussion Topic.

Please follow these rules for updates:
1. When posting a new updated version of a level, remove any old updated versions of that level --> Have all your recent updates stored in 1 post! I will delete such old posts eventually if the author doesn't; so don't store any important information in them.
2. Make a new post for a new update; do not edit your most recent post. You may, however, post updates to multiple entries (if you have more than one) in the same post.
3. Use the same filename as found in the ZIP of the entered levels, with "V2" "V3" etc added at the end. No matter how minor an update is, give it a new number.
4. Do not post in this topic, unless it's to post an update to your levels. Use the discussion topic instead for anything else.

Please use the same naming format as in the zip file:  User1_Levelname_R3V5.lvl ---> Level "Levelname" by User1   for Rule 3   Version 5 of the level

For late submissions also, please use the same kind of filename as is used in the main levels download - ie: your username, and "R1" "R2" or "R3" to mark which rule the level is for. Please be sure to check the original contest announcement topic for the rules; as the notes in the discussion topic are simply meant as reminders, not full explanations of the rules.

Please use the right naming format when posting updates! That would lead to less confusions and less work for everyone.

All zips only need to be unzipped inside the main folder of your NeoLemmix or Lix Player!

17 levels have made it to this second phase. Here we will try and reduce this number to 6 or slightly above that due to possible ties.

The levels have been divided into 3 groups of 5-6 levels semi-randomly.

Each group will be voted on one at a time, with the goal being that 2 levels from each group advancing to Phase 3. This number can increase in the case of ties. I plan no tiebreakers for this!

The phase is over! 17 levels qualified for Phase 2!

I will prepare the groups for the next phase and it will most likely be up over the next few days!
