General Discussion / Re: Gauging interest in a UK meetup, summer 2023

I can't make this, but I hope this becomes a success!

excess terrain pieces
---
The Amiga version of the level also has the bad terrain piece

Thanks for identifying this! Can you elaborate: whereabout is the piece, and what effect does it have in-game?
I haven't checked (I don't own the Amiga version), but from the comment above I understand that the piece is in the same place as in the PC version, but that in-game the level looks the same as it does in Lemmix.

Non-Lemmings Projects / Re: Retro Game Clones

The Pong one is cute! I couldn't get Tetris to work, my Python installation on Windows is a bit messed up and I am currently not at leisure to try on Linux.
I think trying to recreate known mechanics is a great way to improve your coding skills! However, would it not be a better challenge if you did not use a tutorial that focuses on these same mechanics? :)

Sounds interesting, enjoy the project! :D

I have been able to use FF on fast pc's by rapidly pressing the button twice on the keyboard. Sometimes it'd still go too far, but then you can just use the replay to get back up to where you were... by rapidly pressing the forward button twice a few times. :P
If I recall correctly, Lemmings 95 uses the same level format as the original Lemmings. Have you tried using Lemmix packs? I'd try it myself, but I should get to studying... :D

Interesting!
Thanks for sharing; I'm surprised to see Lemmings tracks released officially, to begin with. The album is on Spotify too.

Designing emoticons is fun, but I've always felt like the Lemmings case is made a lot harder by them not having a mouth... There's only so much you can tell by someone's eyes!

[Runner is not used much] (shame really, as it's a skill I use quite a bit IRL)
Did not see this coming.

Very interesting post! I have not yet finished reading it and have to go now, but I'm intending to get back to it later.

So if I understand right you used the MIDIs from the game, and recorded them with a different soundfont?

Can You provide a link to an MP3 or OGG version of these tunes?
Tip: use yt-dlp. There are also lots of websites where you can download YouTube videos, but lots of them are shady (which isn't strange, as they have to pay server costs).

Did you transcribe these yourself? I do indeed not understand Spanish. ;)

It's funny. :D Reminds me of Yoshi when he has taken Fuzzy, if it would slow down and speed up regularly, and the MIDI sample would be warped a bit, I think it would work perfectly.

Cool mock-up!

If anyone hasn't seen it yet, I would recommend it! It is quite good, and I certainly heard some things I didn't know. It is also enjoyable to hear about the things you do know, as it is well-made, and it's just nice to see and hear a lot of these people talk (but most particularly Gary Timmons: what a joy!). Having read some comments on here and on YouTube about the mobile game, I was expecting half of the documentary to be about it, but that wasn't at all true. In fact, I don't think the section on it was any longer than it had to be! It is cool to see what's going on with Lemmings now, rather than the documentary being solely retrospective, in my opinion.

I can barely believe that it asks for passwords. :P

Interesting!
I'm going to check it out, although I won't be able to watch it live.
